In December 2023, Earl Moburg disappeared from his North Kildonan home during a Winnipeg winter. He suffered from advanced dementia and was never found. His family had tried everything—trackers, medical assessments, round-the-clock care—but dementia progression is unpredictable and unforgiving.
The Moburg family's story is shared by countless others. Families lose someone they love twice: once to the disease itself, and then physically. The emotional, physical and mental toll on caregivers grows heavier each day, with no clear moment when safety concerns shift from manageable to impossible.
