Wow. 10 years. It is both surprising and not to me that I've reached this milestone. I literally cannot believe it's been 10 years since I started Purple Door Creative. It feels like the blink of an eye, but that can happen when you enjoy what you do!

More than that, I enjoy the people I have met and have built working relationships and, in many cases, friendships with along the way.

Thanks to everyone who's been a part of this journey. Here's to many more! (I won't say 10 more since I'm not sure my knees can handle 10 more years of running up and down stairs all day 🤣🤣🤣)

Paula, Darryl and the Purple Door Creative team didn’t just volunteer their time and talent to capture incredible moments at ROCKSTALGIA. They also took on the enormous responsibility of coordinating our entire volunteer photography team!

From organizing photographers and managing coverage to helping ensure the magic happening across the festival was documented, their dedication was truly extraordinary.

Paula and Darryl, thank you for your leadership, creativity, generosity, and the countless hours you poured into ROCKSTALGIA. Because of you and your team, we have an incredible collection of memories that will keep the spirit of our first festival alive for years to come. ❤️🎸

This came up in my memories today. Throw back to that time I got a call to shoot a house that had had a “small” fire. My first clue that it wasn’t going to be nothing should have been when I asked for the lockbox code and was told “Just go. There’s no door.” 😱🤣

Did something a little different last weekend and shot the Rockstalgia music festival at the Orono fairgrounds. 2 full days of epic music by local bands and stellar cover bands spanning the 70s, 80s and 90s. If you weren’t there, you missed out on one epic event!! Make sure you’re watching for updates on Rockstalgia 2027!!

I've been in this business in one form or another now for 30 (!!) years. And I've seen some things. BOY have I seen some things. But just now sitting outside enjoying a leisurely late lunch on the deck, I got talking with my SO and remembered a doozy.

I was shooting a very large, very expensive home in Peterborough. Think historic Doctors home. The Sellers had it looking lovely. Didn't need staging. It was a super hot summer day and for some reason only known to them, the sellers thought it would be a good idea to stage the outdoor patio furniture...with SUSHI.

Yup. Probably a $50 or more worth of real sushi laid out on the table. It looked very artful. As long as you looked past the flies. And the wasps. And the hornets. Crawling all over EVERYTHING in the blazing hot sun. And yes, it smelled just exactly how you are imagining.

All I can say is thank goodness for photoshop!
