This morning, as I was preparing myself to attend a funeral mass of the most loving kind hearted 92 year old woman, I volunteered my services to a family whose father has been given a poor prognosis - for the wedding they will be holding, and then I finished my day by photographing the most beautiful newborn baby girl being surrounded by love. What a poignant day.
It's moments like this that truly make me reflect on my life.
Isaiah 40:31 says that those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength... I've always viewed that verse in a *daily* context or for when times get tough...
But today I see it more clearly.
Life is breathtakingly beautiful. It is exhausting. It is fragile. It is filled with beginnings, endings, joy, heartbreak, and countless ordinary moments that become extraordinary when we look back on them.
Those who wait upon the Lord, not just during their days and hard moments, but those who wait *through their lifetime* - shall renew their strength through Him. Through His light, His love, and His peace.
Through the hardest moments, through the years of sleepless nights and blessings of babies, through devastating diagnoses and through first and last breaths- He shall renew their strength.
Today I am reminded of that promise but also reminded of what an incredible privilege it is to be the one to witness some of life's most sacred moments from behind my camera. There is a beautiful sorrow in days like today and witnessing just how fast time truly goes.
Today and everyday, I am overflowing with gratitude to create such intimate and beautiful moments for families to reflect on; to stand quietly and observe the moments where someone's world changes forever. It is truly an honour that I believe is lost on many photographers.
And above all, I am most grateful for the promise of eternal peace with Christ.
