Low autumn sun, Kristen Holliday , and a couple of 1970’s classics up in the golden hills of Kamloops. We’ve been so enjoying cruising around in the van. The smiles it brings, thumbs ups, and excited comments yelled out the windows of other vehicles never gets old. I truly love driving vehicles that bring happiness wherever they go, it’s one of the reasons I love the Miata as well. It’s so different from the van but those pop up headlights and it’s happy smile make it such a crowd pleaser no matter the age group.

Often times when I am travelling, scouting, or on location for shoots there’s moments to capture away from my car subjects. Sometimes it requires a quick turn and snap when I am on the clock, and sometimes it’s pulling over at 1am off the the top of the Coquihalla after two full days of shooting, a spontaneous sunroof exploding incident and repair 3 hours earlier in the middle of winter to pause and watch a rare glimpse of the northern lights. So to welcome October, here’s to the in between moments that offer pause and beauty with a selection of these moments from over the course of this year.

One year ago this weekend we documented Dave Hord ‘s daring drive over the BC Rockies in a Ford Model A he just purchased. Featured on the cover of the spring edition of Hagerty magazine.

It’s been a long time since we’ve had a professional portrait of Kristen Holliday and I. Thanks to Andrew Snucins Photography for getting this shot of us while taking our Van and his Mini out for a sunny end of summer drive for ice cream. Living it up like we are in the 70’s!

We will be framing that one up for sure.

It’s 1969, 5th dimension is playing on the radio, the sun is out and you’re behind the wheel of your fresh, green lotus Elan to meet your friends for some beach volleyball. Or at least that’s what I would’ve been doing if I were around then.
