Lindsey + Taylor | Teatro, downtown Calgary | October 19, 2024

“Nothing happens unless first a dream.”

Lindsey and Taylor started their day slow and full of laughs, shared a first look at noon so the nerves turned into hugs, then spent the afternoon exploring downtown with their wedding party. At 3:30 they said their vows at Teatro, and the night stayed right there: dinner, speeches and a dance floor that never emptied. A Teatro wedding that felt completely theirs.

The most relaxed brides always end up with my favourite photos.
After 20 years of photographing weddings across Calgary, Banff and Canmore, I’ve noticed a pattern. The Type B bride who cries happy tears, then laughs it off when a big gust of wind blows through right in the middle of the vows? She gets the real, unposed moments that make a gallery feel alive.
I wrote a whole blog post about it, with some of my favourite windy, teary, laugh-out-loud moments. And if you’re more of a Type A, no judgment: my favourite planners are linked in there too, so you can hand off the stress and just enjoy the day.

The Dutch angle is back. Again. 20 years of weddings. I can’t quite believe I’m typing that.
My first wedding was in 2007, but this whole thing really started earlier, in school, with a 35mm film camera and no idea how many rolls I’d shoot in my life. Film got me hooked on photography, and honestly? I never really stopped shooting it. Some of the frames in this post are straight off real 35mm film.
Now film and Super 8 nostalgia are everywhere again, and yes... the Dutch angle is making its comeback for the second time. I’ve watched trends come and go (and come back), and the thing that never left is the real moments: the laughs, the happy tears, the front row losing it.
So I put it all together in our 20-year anniversary blog. A look back, a few favourites, and a little fun along the way.
