Turns out our ‘Take 10’ Sessions look pretty good at the lake.

We set up our Limited Edition ‘Take 10’ Dark Sessions 𝑻𝒖𝒄𝒌𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝑪𝒂𝒃𝒊𝒏 in Port Carling and photographed the cutest little crew of summer with their braids, lake hair, water-ski stories, tan lines, ice cream faces and whatever else they happened to bring in off the dock.

Basically, all the evidence of a summer very well spent.

Honestly, this was the greatest. Can we do everything in Muskoka now? ❤️ . .

Today, my youngest guy turns 12. It’s hard to put into words what it means to be your mom. I often describe you as “therapy” and boy is it ever true. Your kindness and calm are your superpower. And your innate desire to see the best in people and to stand up and advocate for things that matter a lot is something that will follow you through your life and bless all the lucky people around you. Buddy, our tv dates and walks to the lake are some of my favorite life moments. Thanks for still holding my hand and for always being so awesome. ❤️ . .

People often ask me how on earth I can create portraits like these in just 10 minutes.

Honestly? It has very little to do with the 10 minutes. And has everything to do with connection.

Over the years, I’ve learned that kids don’t need an hour to give you who they really are. They just need to feel safe. They need someone they trust, someone who isn’t asking them to perform, smile on command or be anything other than exactly who they are.

That’s my favourite part.

Whether they’re shy, silly, reserved or completely wild, there’s always a moment when they can be themselves. Sometimes it happens in the first thirty seconds. Sometimes it takes eight minutes. But when it happens, it’s magic.

These sessions were designed for busy families who want something beautiful on their walls without turning it into an all-day event. You don’t need multiple outfits, hours of your weekend, or kids who love having their picture taken. You just need ten minutes, your favourite people, and a little trust.

The result is artwork that feels like them. The kind of oversized, gallery-style portraits that become part of your home and somehow never stop making you smile every time you walk past them.

Some photos matter in the moment.
Some matter even more 20 years from now.

This was one of those sessions.

Grandma was visiting from across the pond, so they booked a quick session while everyone was together. Three generations. One afternoon. And a handful of photographs that already mean more than anyone realized when they were taken.

I think these are some of the most important images we capture and this post is a friendly nudge to book the session.

Kids grow up. Parents become grandparents. Life changes quietly, and then one day these become the photographs everyone adores.
