Today, my G turns 14. 🤍

My travel buddy. My adventure partner. My built-in company for coffee runs, long walks, shopping trips, hockey days, and conversations about life. You’re loyal, dependable, analytical, deeply respectful, trustworthy, steadfast, and so beautifully kind.

Being your mom has felt less like leading the way and more like sharing the journey, and that’s been one of the greatest privileges and joys of my life.

Sometimes all you need is 10 minutes.

Not every season calls for a full-blown photoshoot with multiple outfits, a Pinterest board, and a detailed shot list. Sometimes you just want a few beautiful images to remember a moment before it slips by.

This sweet family came in to celebrate baby #2 on the way, and honestly, that’s the magic of a Take 10 Session. Quick. Simple. Meaningful.

Big sister absolutely stole a few scenes (as four-year-olds tend to do 😏), and mom and dad kept it classic with the foolproof combo of denim and white. There’s a reason it never goes out of style. It looks good on everyone, keeps the focus where it belongs, and photographs beautifully every single time.

A growing family. A tiny baby bump. A proud big sister. Ten minutes well spent.

And years from now, these will be the photos that bring them right back to this season. . .

One of my favourite things about photographing businesses is spotting the opportunity that nobody else sees.

This team showed up wearing matching green Nikes.

Not because we planned it or I told them to.
They just happened to be wearing them. And the minute I saw it, I knew we had to use it.

Because those shoes weren’t really about the shoes.
They were their brand colour. Their personality and their culture.

The thing that makes them different from every other company using the same headshots, on the same background, making the same “corporate but friendly” face.

That’s the thing about branding. The best ideas aren’t always manufactured. Sometimes they’re already there. You just need someone to notice them.

And honestly? Those little moments are usually what make a photo memorable. Professional doesn’t have to be boring. And corporate most certainly doesn’t have to look corporate. . .

This morning, I was reminded of a photo shoot with the coolest duo and in 2021.

What I remember most isn’t the photograph itself. It’s how they made each other feel. 100% safe and celebrated.

As Pride Month begins, I’m reminded that the best photographs aren’t really about pictures at all. They’re about belonging.

For years, I’ve believed that everyone who walks into my studio deserves to feel welcome, comfortable, respected, and valued exactly as they are. No pretending. No fitting into someone else’s idea of who they should be. Just kindness, integrity and the grace of simply being human.

has spent years helping people feel seen through their art, presence, and generosity. brought his own confidence, joy, and authenticity to this session. Together, they created something beautiful, and not because of the image itself, but because of the connection behind it (although the image is pretty rockstar ✌️)

That’s the kind of world I hope we’re building.

Like honestly… moms are out here holding entire family ecosystems together while surviving on cold coffee and mental to-do lists.

These sessions are for that. The real stuff. The laughing. The chaos. The “please just look at the camera once” energy.

And somehow in 10 minutes, we make magic out of it.

He’s five. Which means this version of him is already disappearing a little bit every day. As parents, we understand this.

The tiny expressions.The little-boy grin. The way his little teeth look.

That’s why these sessions were never really about “taking photos.” They’re about preserving a season. Holding onto a moment in time that we already know we’ll miss one day.

Because childhood changes quietly. And then suddenly. Trust me, I know this very well.

There’s something so special about the way kids love their dogs.

The comfort. The loyalty. The way they become part of each other’s childhood.

And that’s why these photos matter so much. Not because they’re “perfect.” But because one day they become reminders of a season you’d give anything to go back to for just a minute.

Sometimes those memories end up as giant framed pieces on your wall.
Sometimes they live quietly on a bedside table or credenza.

Either way, they matter.

These aren’t just photos. They’re pieces of your life that deserve to live somewhere other than your phone.

This will probably get more likes than any child photo I’ve ever posted and honestly… fair. 😂

Because LOOK AT HIM. He looks like a Muppet who wandered into a photo studio and somehow understood the assignment.

But also… this is exactly why I believe photography matters.

It’s not just a photo. The things we love deserve to live bigger than a phone screen.

Honestly, this is the stuff that matters.

The kind of image that ends up framed massive on a wall someday… and somehow becomes more valuable every single year.
