Some witches keep their spells in a cauldron. This one kept hers in a jack-o’-lantern.

Dusting off this Halloween photoshoot from a couple of years ago. It has red smoke, an old barn with half a roof, and a golden field just outside Barrie. It’s still one of my favourite things I’ve ever made.

A year ago, Larissa knelt on the floor and buckled Alli into her wedding shoes. This time, the roles were reversed. Alli, now standing beside her as maid of honor, took her turn at her sister’s feet, fastening each strap with the same quiet care.

Some moments in the morning are about the dress or the veil. This one was about the two of them, a small ritual passed back and forth, and the kind of love that shows up in the simplest gestures.

Plot twist: the best part of being a wedding photographer is the sequel.

A few years ago these two hired me to photograph their wedding. This fall they called again, this time with a much smaller guest of honour, one who had opinions about how her session should go. (Honestly, fair.)

There’s something special about coming back for an in-home newborn session with a couple I already know. We skip the small talk, the coffee’s on, and I get to watch them be exactly who they were on their wedding day, just a little more tired and a lot more in love.

I came for the wedding and stayed for the whole story.
