‘On the Edge’

It’s hard to appreciate just how massive these cliffs are until you see someone standing on the edge.

With the ocean dropping away below and the islands stretching out into the distance, the person in this photo gives the whole landscape some perspective — and makes you realise just how small we are in places like this.

Standing there, looking out over the cliffs and endless ocean, was one of those moments that makes you stop and take it all in.

Sometimes a photograph isn’t really about the person in it. They’re there to show you just how big the world is. 🤍

‘Sommarøy’

A little adventure around Sommarøy. 🛶

There’s something pretty special about being out on the water with towering mountains rising straight from the sea and a little lighthouse standing out in the distance.

The kayak makes the landscape feel even bigger — just one tiny person paddling through this incredible Arctic scenery.

Definitely one of those days where the views make you want to keep paddling just a little further. 🤍

‘Three by the Sea’

Three little fishermen’s cabins, a whole lot of colour, and the mountains of Sommarøy in the background.

I love how much character you find in these small coastal communities. Brightly coloured houses, boats bobbing in the harbour and dramatic mountains just beyond them — it’s pretty hard not to stop and take a photo.

Sommarøy was one of those places where we could have wandered around for hours, finding little details and views around every corner.

‘Old Faithful’

I came across these two old Land Rovers parked outside what looks like a house that’s seen better days.

The house might be slowly falling apart, but I’m convinced those Land Rovers could probably still start up and drive away. 😂

There’s something about old vehicles like these — weathered, battered and clearly well used — that makes you wonder about all the places they’ve been and the stories they could tell.

I’m not sure how long they’ve been sitting here, but I’d like to think they’re still waiting for their next adventure. 🤍

‘Wild & Woolly’

Meet the muskox. One animal I was VERY excited to finally see for the first time.

I’ve seen plenty of wildlife over the years, but somehow a muskox had always managed to avoid making it onto my list. So when we came across this guy, I was pretty excited. 😂

He was in the middle of shedding his winter coat, giving him a seriously wild and woolly look — and making it pretty obvious just how well equipped these guys are for Arctic winters.

‘Afterglow’

Midnight in Lofoten doesn’t always look like midnight.

The sun had dropped low behind the mountains, leaving this incredible orange glow in the sky while the fog slowly drifted through the peaks.

For a few minutes, the mountains became nothing more than silhouettes against the light, and the whole landscape felt unreal.

It’s hard to believe this was happening somewhere around midnight.

‘Above Måstad’

From the summit of Håen on Værøy, the landscape opens up in every direction.

Looking down from the old radar lookout, you can see the dramatic cliffs dropping into the bright blue Arctic Ocean, with the remote area of Måstad tucked away below.

Måstad was once a small, isolated fishing and farming community, accessible only by sea or on foot. Today, the village has been abandoned, leaving behind a little piece of history surrounded by one of the most spectacular landscapes I’ve ever seen.

Standing up here and looking down at it all was pretty incredible. Mountains, ocean, cliffs and a forgotten village all in one view.

Lofoten just keeps finding new ways to surprise you. 🤍

‘Lost in the Landscape’

Sometimes the best views are the ones that make you realise just how small you are.

There wasn’t really anywhere else to be in that moment. Just a quiet trail, a beautiful view, and a few minutes to stop and appreciate where we were. 🤍

It’s moments like this that remind me why I love exploring places like Lofoten — you don’t always have to be doing something.

Sometimes you just need to stop and look around.

‘Where Land Ends’

Somewhere between the mountains and the sea, with the cliffs dropping away below us and the fog slowly rolling in.

There was something about standing on the edge watching the clouds move across the ocean that made the whole landscape feel completely wild.

Lofoten has so many different moods. One minute you’re surrounded by bright blue water and sunshine, and the next the fog rolls in and transforms everything.

I think these quieter, moodier moments might be some of my favourites. 🤍

‘A Road Through Paradise’

The Fredvang Bridges — one of those views that makes you want to stop and take a photo before you’ve even had a chance to take it all in.

From above, the road winds its way across the water with the impossibly blue ocean below and Volandstinden rising dramatically in the background.

It’s hard to believe this is an actual road and not something someone designed specifically to look like a postcard. 😂

Lofoten really does have a way of making even the journey between places feel like part of the adventure.
