A few shots from the recent aurora in Banff.

While green is the most common aurora colour we were treated to bright reds during this last show. Both green and red aurora are due to collisions between charged particles from the sun and oxygen in our atmosphere but the greens occur at lower altitudes whereas the reds occur at high altitudes and generally happen during a more powerful solar event making them a lot rarer to see.

Few shots from a quick overnight trip to the Conrad Kain hut a few weeks ago. We had all four seasons in that short 24 hours. From summer sun to winter snow and spring rain to autumn colours. Such an incredible place to witness.

The Devil’s Thumb/Big Beehive hike at Lake Louise has got to be one of the best bang for your buck hikes in Banff. Taking approximately 3 hours to complete the 12km up and back trek (depending on your hiking ability) it offers incredible views of Mirror Lake, Lake Agnes and of course Lake Louise from high above. Just make sure you get there early to avoid the crowds!
