Keeping up on Instagram is a full-time job, I know. And trends make it so much easier to come up with content and often give you more reach, but they can most definitely hurt your brand. Here are a few that I often encounter and am purposely skipping to protect my brand’s positioning 👉

Sure, we all have client frustrations and it can be a relief to share them with colleagues, your content should speak to your clients. I want my clients to feel welcome, because without them my business wouldn’t exist

They might fall under ‘popular’ and improve your reach, I’ll never add hysterical music if I want a premium feel. I wouldn’t add music that I don’t like either. Branding, taste and experience aren’t just about visuals

Creativity is a key part of my job sooooo. Also a joke’s only funny if it’s original

I could’ve written this in butter yellow. Just saying

Aaah the big one. My brand is about aesthetics and I think pretty things can be very authentic. Ugly content would absolutely hurt my brand

I don’t think it’s very classy to turn on your camera while crying but maybe that’s just me

We all have our own way of doing things and we all have our own expertise. Why would mine be better than someone else’s? I think everyone should do exactly as they please. Just because I don’t wanna post ugly stuff doesn’t mean I’m saying you shouldn’t

I think that’s just cheap and I prefer soft & friendly messaging

Yeah… might be a no-brainer for some, but I’ve seen several brands post complete AI campaigns and I think that shows they have no idea what creativity is about. It’s not about the part where you produce something, but about the thinking, intuition and feeling that only humans can bring to it. But I guess that’s an entirely different discussion

And if you need help infusing your brand’s vision into your content, send me a dm! 💌

It sometimes seems like we’re changing absolutely everything in our home, but there are some things that made us decide it was ‘the one’ when we bought it

I think the hallway is one of the most important places in a house. It’s the first impression after the façade itself and sets the tone. It’s the room where you should feel your nervous system reset when you enter it. So I really wanted it to feel like a room - which meant it had to be big enough

this might feel like a detail, but I love that you can’t see the staircase when you enter the house or from any living space. You have to turn 90 degrees at the end of the entryway, making it part of a journey through the house rather than an ‘in-your-face’ necessary element. This adds to the entryway being a separate room.
Besides, I love how just the location of the staircase divides the rooms in the entire house. We placed a new walnut staircase from the ground floor up, but didn’t alter the location

We changed almost everything except its location

The element that probably needs the least explaining. We had to carefully remove it during the renovations and had it restored because it wasn’t in the best shape. Now it’s often pointed out by guests and it gives us a midday golden hour in the living room

I’m so happy to live in the city centre and be able to walk everywhere, have shops nearby and always have something to do, but…

I love to stay at home too, and I never feel locked in because the house is far from small.
We preferred to buy a house where we could already live during the renovations to save costs, and this one was perfect for just that. It was divided into two apartments, so we lived in one of them during the first phases. A disadvantage of the size is that the renovations take longer and are more expensive because there’s just a lot more space to cover

For the previous owners, it seemed to be somewhat of a wasted space, used to store stuff. It’s a room that’s not connected with any other room, apart from the hallway, so it wouldn’t have made for an inviting living space. But I’d always dreamed of having a separate laundry room and this one was just perfect for that. We did alter it, adding som

6 years ago, I borrowed someone else’s camera and lens for an architecture shoot. And because I had it for a few days, I wanted to make the most of it and test it as much as I could.

I wanted to test it on something more in my field of interest: fashion businesses.

So I messaged a few stores.

Because I didn’t see it often on Instagram: fashion stores sharing pictures of their interiors. Collections? Yes. But the physical space? Often absent. It surprised me, because sharing your interior adds such an important layer to your content.

And that’s when my Brand Experience Shoots were born.

Especially in times of online shopping and sending half of your order back, customer experience makes all the difference. And just like for a salon, your customer should feel that experience before even walking through your door.

You want to warm them up for what they can expect. Remind current customers why they feel so good in your place, and give new customers an urge to visit too.

Because if the experience you created is one of the reasons people choose your store, it shouldn’t only exist once they walk through the door.

I love Brand Experience Shoots, because when we dive into the brand’s story, I always see the owner’s eyes light up with pride and joy 😌

I have some spots left in September and October. If you feel like this is for you, send me a DM!

Brought my camera on our hiking trip because I knew I’d regret walking through beautiful places without it.

Not a lot of gear. Just my 50mm lens and my phone for some quick edits.

But enough to capture what I felt the moment we arrived at Manoir de Lébioles | Hotel, Restaurant & Spa | Ardennes belges

Not just the rooms or the pretty exterior. Not even proof that the place is beautiful.

More the way you immediately slow down when you step inside.

Its location in the middle of nature. The soft textures and warm colours. The swallows dancing in the evening light. The view that keeps you mesmerised and makes you lose track of time.

That’s the part I’m most interested in when photographing hospitality.

Because for a stay to feel worth travelling for, worth booking, worth choosing over all the other beautiful places out there, the images have to do more than document.

They have to make the value feel obvious. Not in square meters, room descriptions or a list of amenities, but in the right feeling.

Hospitality imagery should be more than information about what you’ll get. It should create a visual world that makes people feel why they would want to stay.
