🦅 The Shoebill 🦕

Prehistoric, mysterious, and unforgettable: those are the first three words that come to mind when I think back on this bird.

Well hidden in the Ugandan swamp, encountering the Shoebill is something you have to earn, but it is also one of the most surreal encounters that remains etched in our memory long after the trip is over.

With that piercing gaze, you almost forget who is the observed and who is the observer…

Uganda is one of the best places in the world to encounter this fascinating bird; the country is also home to a multitude of fascinating species: mountain gorillas, chimpanzees, tree-climbing lions… a destination of incredible diversity.

Want to plan your next adventure? I organize custom wildlife tours throughout Africa, let’s talk about it.

🐆🦁 100 YEARS KRUGER NATIONAL PARK 🦒🐘

Today, May 31th 2026, Kruger National Park turns 100 years old. Even though I’m not born in (South) Africa, the Kruger still holds a special place in my heart.

In 2016, I first moved to South Africa 🇿🇦 for an internship in college. During this period I had the chance to visit several National Parks all over the country. But, one National Park really stood out to me. The Kruger National Park.

My first few visits I knew nothing about wildlife & conservation and I just went to enjoy the beauty and the animals. The more I went, I started to interest myself in wildlife, the conservation of the National Park (& private game reserves) and photography 📷

The rest is history, ever since, I have been addicted to wildlife and photography. This Instagram page is to show my passion for it. So without the Kruger, I wouldn’t have traveled as much as I did now and I would have been able to photograph such incredible creatures 🐆🐘🦁

🐆 HAPPY MOTHERS DAY 🐆

The bond between a leopard mother and her cub is something special to witness.

Patient, protective, and always alert, the Piccadilly female seemed to have everything under control while her cub explored the world one step at a time.

For a young leopard, every day is a lesson. How to move, where to hide, what to avoid. And for the mother, there’s barely a moment to switch off.

These moments were photographed in MalaMala Private Game Reserve in December 2025, and they’re a reminder that some of the strongest connections in nature are also the quietest ones.

Happy Mother’s Day to the moms out there, both in the wild and beyond

🦍 PRIMATES OF UGANDA 🇺🇬

There’s something completely different about spending time with primates in Uganda.

With wildlife, you often admire the power, the beauty, or the behaviour. But with primates, there are moments where it feels a little more personal. The expressions, the curiosity, the way they look back at you… sometimes it feels almost too familiar.

Mountain gorillas carry this calm presence that makes the entire forest go quiet. Chimpanzees are the opposite. Loud, chaotic, energetic, and impossible to predict.

And then there’s the environment itself. Thick forests, dark greens, the sound of rain and movement everywhere around you. Photographing primates in Uganda feels less like a safari and more like stepping into another world for a few hours.

Challenging? Definitely. Worth it? Every single time.

🐆 WORLD LEOPARD DAY 🐆

Needless to say that the leopard is my favourite subject to photograph.

There’s just something about leopards.

The way they move, effortless and precise. The kind of elegance that doesn’t need attention but somehow always gets it. One moment completely hidden, the next perfectly framed like they planned it.

They’re the real ghosts of the bush. You can spend hours, even days, looking for them and sometimes all you get is a quick glimpse before they disappear again.

And that’s exactly why it means so much when it does come together. Being able to actually photograph one, to have that moment last a little longer, is an incredible feeling.

Elegant, powerful, and at times surprisingly cute. Hard not to keep coming back for more.

You can’t plan this.

An elephant, the right light, and somehow a rainbow lining up exactly where it needs to be.

It’s one of those scenes that feels almost too perfect. The kind you usually only imagine.

But every now and then, everything just clicks for a few seconds… and if you’re ready, you get to take it home with you.

Proof that sometimes the wild delivers more than you could ever set up yourself.

🐆 THAT MONDAY FEELING 🐆

Up in the tree, completely relaxed one moment… and suddenly alert the next.

A quick scan of the surroundings, making sure everything’s in check, and then straight back to snoozing like nothing happened.

No rush, no stress. Just conserving energy until it actually matters.

Honestly, a pretty solid approach to Mondays.

Photos taken while on safari in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve, South Africa 🇿🇦 in December 2025
