There’s something truly special about seeing Australia’s wild horses, the Brumbies roaming free.

Over the last few years, our trips through Kiandra have meant keeping our eyes peeled, hoping to catch even a glimpse of them. Some years we’ve seen only a handful, and sometimes barely any at all.

But yesterday was something I’ll never forget.

More than 200 Brumbies scattered across the landscape grazing, running, standing together and simply existing in the wild. Seeing so many of these beautiful animals against the rugged Australian landscape was absolutely breathtaking.

No photo will ever quite capture what it felt like to stand there and watch them, but I’m incredibly grateful I got the chance to try.
