Most people see a whale. I see a composition problem I have approximately 3 seconds to solve.

He came spiralling up from the deep below me and for a moment I genuinely forgot to breathe. Then his fluke broke the surface and the ocean just handed me this frame.

Black and white dramatic process was the only edit that made sense. The texture, the scars, the sheer scale of him. Colour would have been a distraction.

Scarface of the Deep.

The scarred rostrum of a bull s***m whale, every white line earned in the darkness below. Hunting giant squid at depths exceeding 1,000 metres, these encounters are anything but one sided. Architeuthis fights back, leaving radula marks and sucker ring lacerations etched permanently into the skin. Some of these wounds heal over time, fading into the background of weathered hide. Others never fully disappear, becoming permanent features of a face that has seen the deepest parts of the ocean.

When Grandma’s old rag rug finally had enough and decided to move to the ocean. Meet the wobbegong shark, nature’s master of disguise, carpeting the reef floor like it pays rent.

The name comes from an Australian Aboriginal word thought to mean “shaggy beard” a nod to the fleshy lobes and fringe around their heads that break up their outline perfectly.

I was filming a mother and her calf as they started to dive, when out of nowhere a male came charging up toward them.

What happened next was unreal. The two s***m whales collided head to head, completely on purpose. The clicking sounds were insane, loud and rapid.

Headbutting is mostly seen between males, and it can mean different things depending on the moment, from aggression to social interaction or even learning behaviour.

Here’s a glimpse of one of our favorite places on Earth… French Polynesia.

This isn’t something you “maybe do next year.”
We’re down to the final spots across our July to October expeditions… and once they’re gone, that’s it.

A full week in one of the most breathtaking places on the planet: swimming alongside humpback whales, encountering reef sharks and stingrays, exploring untouched islands, and learning photography and video editing with us. Every single day is different. Every encounter is earned.

This isn’t just a trip. It’s one of those weeks that stays with you for the rest of your life.

If you’ve been thinking about it, don’t wait until you see someone else living it.

Send us a DM with your email now or comment "fluke" and we’ll send you the full details before the last spots disappear.

This is not for everyone.

Swimming with Humpback Whale in the world largest whale sanctuary, Moʻorea, is one of the rarest wildlife encounters on Earth.

And access is limited.

Not because we want it to be
but because it has to be.

We run small, controlled expeditions
with only 4 guests in our private boat.

No chaos. No chasing. No mass tourism.

Just you
the open ocean
and the possibility of a life changing encounter.

A 40 ton animal choosing to come close.
A calf locking eyes with you.
Moments that don’t repeat.

This season is already filling.

Every year people reach out when it is already too late.

2026 Moʻorea Expeditions
7 and 10 night journeys
Limited spots remaining from July to October.

This is not a maybe next year experience.

If it is on your mind now
there is a reason.

Comment WHALE or send a DM
and we will send you the full brochure and pricing.

Once it is full
it is gone.
