From The Pit started as most things do with a cool name but very limited ability in 2011. From humble beginnings FTP has taken me around the world shooting festivals, tours and music videos. In 2011 I picked up my first DLSR, came up with the FTP moniker and completed a rock photography course. Armed with this I twisted the arm of Annandale Hotel to let me take crap pictures of their gigs. For the

next few years I shot as many as I could - Tumbleweed, Sticky Fingers, Violent Soho, We Lost the Sea, Sleepmakeswaves, Northlane and The Bronx playing one of the sweatiest shows ever! After that shut down I moved onto Sando/Newtown Social Club, Bald Faced Stag and various other legends of the Sydney scene. In 2015 I embarked on my first overseas FTP tour, travelling to Switzerland for Greenfield Festival. Camping in a giant Swiss canyon capturing Slipknot, Parkway Drive, Gaslight Anthem and many more. I would later return in 2017 to film the festival. In 2016 I covered festivals around Australia and Europe - Party In The Paddock (TAS), Punk Rock Holiday (Slovenia), Reading Fest, Rockstadt Extreme Metal Festival (Romania), Hardcore 2016, Bondi Blitz, Groovin The Moo, The Plot and Festival of the Sun (Port Mac). Some of my pics were used by DMA’s in their debut album inner and I won a Moshcam Photo Monthly Award. In 2017 I started taking video a bit more seriously, shooting recap clips for bands such as Stick To Your Guns, Sleepmakeswaves, Phantogram, Clowns, Devin Townsend Project and UNIFY fest. I also undertook a massive Euro tour shooting at Hellfest, Greenfield, DUNK (amazing post-rock fest in a Belgium forest) and Jera on Air. I had the opportunity to film for loads of bands including Every Time I Die, Skinny Lister, Dumbsaint and Meniscus. I returned home with tonnes of content and confidence. I would go on to film Wollombi, Narara Festivals, Alice Cooper and “Guide to the Gong” with Totally Unicorn.

2018 kicked off with a bang filming Progfest, UNIFY, STYG, Mayhem, Papa Roach, Cattle Decapitation, Hellions and then the epic inaugural Download Fest! From there I returned to work with Wollombi, Narara & FKA festivals and capture my old mates Sleepmakeswaves 10 year anniversary tour. The year ended with a massive Good Things Festival in Melbourne.

2019 again kicked off with Progfest this time with a pimped up lineup including The Ocean, Monuments and Skyharbour. I then commenced my association with one of my fave bands COG - filming the NSW leg of tour. Good friends We Lost The Sea invited me to document the recording of their epic new album. In 2019 I filmed music videos for a number of awesome acts including Born Lion, Nathan Cavaleri and The Butterfly Effect “Unbroken” - (filmed on the Good Things national tour). I captured more full set multi cams this year for the likes of Dee Snyder, The Superjesus, WLTS and Solkyri. Oh and I also saw Architects and Bring Me The Horizon in a London park.

2020 & 21 were a s**t time for our industry, although it wasn’t a complete write off. I produced music videos for Solkyri, Flaming Wrekage, my first ever DVD - Dee Snyder “For The Love of Metal Live!”, sleepmakeswaves “Live In Isolation” was broadcast globally at Arctangent’s Virtual Weekender and filmed Thrashville + Gumball.

2022 more of the plague but have just finished Under The Souther Stars, touring with Bush, Stone Temple Pilots and Cheap Trick - what a buzz!

Back in May I returned to Belgium for my 4th Dunk!festival. The first time I visited this oasis of good vibes and post rock was at this same location - a forest just outside Zottegem. That year I witnessed We Lost The Sea play 'Departure Songs' in full for the first time on foreign soil. So to see them play 2 sets, the 2nd of which was DS with a full orchestra to close the 3 day festival was also a full circle moment for me.
Was great to capture the first timers hazards of swimming naked and The Sea Shall Not Have Them who were both well received by big crowds.
I first met Caspian at DUNK!23 in Ghent and was blown away by their set and how great guys they were. Touring with them last Dec around Australia really cemented the friendship. Their DUNK! 26 headline set totally blew us away.
Big thanks to Luc, Wout, Joris and DUNK! crew for always being so accomodating and letting me do my thing. Bigger thanks to Mike and Bird's Robe for trusting me to tell their ever evolving story.
I am pleased to present 'A love letter to DUNK!' - a short documentary dedicated to this much loved festival, hope you enjoy!
