Renowned documentary Photographer, Andrew Chapman has a new exhibition ‘Green Bus’ showing at City Gallery, Melbourne Town Hall.

His work acts as an incredible visual record of much of Australia and I am very much looking forward to seeing it and encourage you to do so too. On until February 19th 2027 so no excuse.

I’ve recently been lucky enough to meet Andrew who has very graciously welcomed a friendship, including sharing of his wisdom and experiences. As someone who is self taught, I’ve never had a Teacher or Mentor, someone to have discussions and seek critical analysis with. Now I do.

This portrait (and others in my stories) were taken when I showed Andrew around my studio building, both of us wandering assessing and getting excited by natural light.

Andrew settled in a chair at this spot and told me to take his photo. Not nerve inducing at all ha! But it was the shove I needed to grab my camera and just start doing more instead of overthinking. Thanks Andrew 🙂

Gary Miles
15 January 1949-14 August 2026

One of my favourite people to ever wander and chat with whilst taking photos.

An inquisitive character, full of stories, posing questions, reflections on family and of course a wondrous eye for light and colour.

Each visit with Gary was a lesson and I always left encouraged to continue with my creative life and get more confident in how I saw things.

My deepest and heartfelt condolences to his family, what a big presence he has left behind in his art and person. ❤️

I’ve given many hours of exploration to this old space, always getting lost in its moodiness and stories.

The decades of dust carry a familiarity.

The broken remnants a signature of time.

I love finding an angle to photograph that I haven’t before, made easier this time with Fraser Tull joining me

Out on Country with Aunty Linda.

Listening, learning and healing.

I’m deeply grateful for her trust, friendship and encouragement.

Walking around, hearing stories of how she and mob used to meet here when she was a child was pretty special. As fast as we were both walking around to get the filming we needed done for the Kurnai Expo projection project, I’m so glad we paused for a film portrait.

Fear by Kahlil Gibran

It is said that before entering the sea
a river trembles with fear.

She looks back at the path she has traveled,
from the peaks of the mountains,
the long winding road crossing forests and villages.

And in front of her, she sees an ocean so vast,
that to enter
there seems nothing more than to disappear forever.

But there is no other way.
The river can not go back.

Nobody can go back.
To go back is impossible in existence.

The river needs to take the risk
of entering the ocean
because only then will fear disappear,
because that’s where the river will know
it’s not about disappearing into the ocean,
but of becoming the ocean.

Where the River meets the Ocean, one must move with the waves instead of fight them.

A powerful place to observe and reflect with my camera as life throws me some changes.
