"So Close,But So Far Away"

Fun fact for you all did you know that earth is actually located inside the milkyway, however it will take you 100,000 years to go right across it. I never knew that myself til I looked it up..crazy aye..

Anyway last night I ventured out and drove down the Waterloo park run to a couple of spots that had sparked my interest the day before when walking. There's a dead tree that I thought that'd look sweet as a composition and also this one which I'm sharing with you now. I love how the trees are crossed over each other as though both lovers caressing each other, basking under the warm light of the milkyway.

It was pretty late at night to capture this image around 10pm as the milkyway is now setting in the west..so you've still got time to admire it's beauty if you stay up just that little bit later.

For those interested this is my first time stacking images..so 15 light frames all at iso 6400 f/3.5 wb 5400 and 10 seconds shot on the sony a7ii with a 28-70mm lens. Then 10 dark frames all blended in sequator to reduce noise and align the stars, freeze the ground and so forth then exported into Gimp to remove hot pixels then imported into lightroom to finish the editing process.
As you can read alot of work went into this 1 image you see before you..and I'm doing it all again tonight..if you're interested I'll be down at Waterloo Plains to capture the milkyway behind that windmill..between 9and10

"Escape Reality "

Hi everyone yesterday I thought to myself why not attempt to capture the full moon rising.
So I headed down to Waterloo Park Run and that old fence captured my eye as a foreground interest. Since I would be using the nikon d7000 coupled with the Tamron 70-300mm , I had to be a fair way back if I wanted everything to be in frame.

So granted I walked roughly between 300 to 500 meters away thinking this'll be the position it'll start rising and capture it resting on that post as I already planned it looking at the stellarium app. Um what I didn't realise however was the fact I typed in the wrong time.
Soooo that said when it started rising I started running with the camera mounted on the tripod over to my right more..now I was in the perfect position lol..

I decided I wanted this image to look kinda whimsical and enchanting, to me photography is all about creativity and expression of one's self..whether what mood you may be going through I like to invoke that feeling..so this is my escape of reality cause let's face it sometimes life gets tough, so to deal with that we sometimes need to escape for our mental health..this year has been a pretty bad year ..which I'm not going to divulge into just yet..maybe later on..anyhoo hope you all like this image and feel free to share this with all your friends and family..I will say this.. never take life for granted

"Waiting At Heaven's Gate"

Hi everyone to say this year has been great, I'd be telling a lie.
Just last month I received a video call from one of my good mates..he's like a brother to me..I've never seen him so upset before, he was telling me that his mum had a stroke then went into a coma.
Unfortunately and sadly she passed away later that week..

For all that knew Priscilla she was the kindest, caring woman that I've had the honour to meet.
She and Ian always treated me as part of their family..whether that be staying over for movie nights or bbqs with drinks, they always were kind and hospitable..you just felt like you were part of their family..so this image is dedicated to you ..may you rest in peace up in Heaven..
It's a kind reminder for you all to maybe just love eachother a bit more as you never know when your time may be up..

"Fading Light "

Hi everyone here's an image of that killer sunset I captured the other day.
I decided to use my Sony a7ii for a change and headed down to Waterloo Plains.
I had to be quick as the light was fading and exposing lots of shadows that were reflecting off the water.
I couldn't believe how stunning this sunset was and the colours that came to life right before my eyes.

"Guluguba Under The Night Sky"

Hi everyone on Thursday night I was accompanied by a couple of friends that were interested in milkyway photography.
So we arrived just before the sun set to be able to check out different angles,compositions and also allowed me to explain to them what I was going to do later.
It was cool to see and feel how the atmosphere changed as the sun finally went to bed.
It was a pleasure to have been able to show them the steps I take to capture the milkyway.
I have to say a huge thankyou to Guluguba Pastures for giving us permission in allowing us to go onto their property.
If you don't know yet this family have the best free range eggs ever so if you haven't tried them yet please do so, available in alot of grocery stores. Stay tuned for more images over the following days ,including my attempt at a pano and a church..

Ready to brave the cold tonight for some more astrophotography..fingers we crossed we capture some awesome images to share with you all..and also not get eaten by wild dogs or dingos lol..I may do a live video tonight just to show you all where we'll be and also the steps I take to capture the milkyway way..so stay tuned for that possibly...
