The theme this year was 'beauty'.

On the edge of the sea, beneath a storm-burdened sky, my teenage son sits, caught between childhood and adulthood. The vastness of the ocean and the weight of gathering clouds mirror his own transition—turbulent, yet achingly beautiful. In this fleeting moment, strength and vulnerability entwine, revealing the raw poetry of becoming.

On a dark, rainy winter’s day, a fragile sapling clings to life in the most unlikely of places—rooted in a weathered log adrift in the river’s current. Surrounded by shadows and swirling cold water, it stretches upward, reaching for a sliver of sunlight that filters through the gloom. The scene is moody, atmospheric, and raw—an emotive reminder of resilience, hope, and the will to grow even in the harshest of conditions.

Point Lonsdale….
I had been photographing the beautiful beach next to the lighthouse at sunset last night. It got dark quickly as the clouds were very ominous. We started watching the ships coming in and out and the pilot boats ferrying the pilots out to on coming ships of off outgoing ships. Wow. What a job that must be pulling up alongside those ships in huge swell to extract/drop off the pilots. I’ve heard navigating the Port Phillip heads is not for the faint hearted.
Out of the dark suddenly the sunset shone through a small sliver of clouds and illuminated the water and the rock in front of me. Magic.
If you zoom in, on the horizon you can see a pilot boat waiting for an exiting ship. Then to the right of the pilot boat in the rain is a ship coming out of the dark. Another pilot boat had just headed out to it and was on its way back.
