One of the questions I’m asked most often is…
“When should I book my newborn session?”
And honestly, there are so many misconceptions around newborn photography.
Some parents think they need to wait until their baby arrives before reaching out.
Others worry they’ve already missed the “perfect” window because their little one is 4, 6 or even 10 weeks old.
The truth?
✨ If you’d love those sleepy, curled-up newborn portraits, I recommend booking your session while you’re still pregnant, with your session taking place around 10–14 days after birth.
But that doesn’t mean you’ve missed your chance if life doesn’t go to plan.
Every stage of those first twelve weeks tells a different story.
At 10 days, I’ll capture tiny fingers, flaky toes and sleepy cuddles.
At 5 weeks, we might capture beautiful eye contact and those first curious little expressions.
By 10 or 12 weeks, you may even be rewarded with the first smiles and those delicious chubby cheeks.
There isn’t a “wrong” age.
There are just different memories waiting to be preserved.
Swipe through this guide if you’re expecting (or send it to someone who is 💛). I hope it answers a few of those questions that are probably floating around in your mind.
And if you’re still unsure which session would be best for your family, my inbox is always open. I’d love to help.
