Narooma Surf Beach is known for its golden sand, rocky coastline, and spectacular sunrise views along the Sapphire Coast. Watching the first light reflect across the ocean while fishing boats headed out made every early morning step worth it.

Sometimes, the best adventures begin before sunrise.

COASTAL DIARIES | Chapter 06: Where the Ocean Roars
📍 Newcastle Breakwater, Newcastle, NSW, Australia

Stretching into the Pacific Ocean, Newcastle Breakwater protects the entrance to Newcastle Harbour while offering spectacular views of the iconic Nobbys Head.

When we visited, nature put on an unforgettable show. We witnessed huge waves, heavy rain, dark storm clouds, a beautiful rainbow, and a golden sunset, all within a single afternoon. Along the breakwater, we also noticed countless names and messages written on the concrete blocks, each telling its own story.

What surprised us most was watching surfers heading out into the rough conditions, riding powerful waves while the weather changed around them. Their confidence and skill made the experience even more memorable.

Some places are beautiful because of the scenery. Others become unforgettable because of the moments you experience there.

Scenic Road Series | Chapter 5: Payne’s Island Reserve 🌿
📍 Payne’s Island Reserve, Wallaga Lake, NSW, Australia

Not every destination needs to be the main attraction. Sometimes the best memories come from an unexpected roadside stop.

While driving along the NSW South Coast, we pulled over at Payne’s Island Reserve and were welcomed by calm waters, the historic bridge, native bushland, and peaceful views across Wallaga Lake. It was the perfect place to stretch our legs, enjoy the scenery, and slow down for a while.

If you’re passing through Bermagui or Tilba, this is a scenic stop that’s definitely worth adding to your road trip.
