I always find it really interesting seeing which portraits pet owners are immediately drawn to from their session.

Sometimes they pick the beautifully posed portrait where their pet is looking straight at the camera. Other times it’s a goofy expression or a head tilt, and sometimes it’s the completely unplanned moments in between the poses that end up being their favourites. Sometimes it's all of the above!

Tell me, which image would you choose for your wall?

Studio update...

What started as a cramped single garage is becoming a dedicated pet photography studio.

It's a space designed around animals and the people who love them. The goal is to create a calm, comfortable environment where pets can relax, be themselves, and where we can create beautiful artwork together.

It's still a work in progress, but it's really exciting to see it all come together.

Banksy the Boston Terrier is a handsome guy who automatically captures your attention.

He’s quiet and thoughtful, and it took him a little while to settle into the studio. Once he did though, his beautiful personality started to shine through.

Saya describes Banksy as being loved by everyone he meets, and I can totally see why. He loves snacks, naps, and the beach. Apparently he also believes that every blanket, couch, chair, and bed belongs to him, no matter whose house he’s visiting!

Saya says when he runs, he bounds like a bunny, which makes everyone think he’s still a puppy. He also has an exceptionally good Blue Steel expression, which he obviously knows how to use well to his advantage.

Banksy was a total sweetheart to photograph and a reminder that not all dogs need to be loud or chaotic to fill a space with personality.

If you’re anything like me, you probably have a phone full of photographs of your dog.

But there’s something really special about seeing your pet portraits printed and displayed in your home instead of tucked away on your phone.

The portraits we live with every day become part of how our home feels. They tell a story about what matters most to us, the relationships we treasure, and the moments we never want to forget.

I love it when clients choose custom pet artwork that feels personal to them. Sometimes it’s a single framed piece for the wall or a collection of portraits displayed together.

Just like family portraits, our pet portraits deserve to be seen, enjoyed, and remembered, not lost in a camera roll.

One of the things I notice most about Dear Dog sessions is how many people feel completely safe with their dogs in a way they don’t anywhere else.

Dogs don’t care if we’re overwhelmed, anxious, emotional, messy, or having a terrible day. They don’t expect us to explain ourselves or pretend that we’re okay, we can be exactly who we are with them.

For a lot of people, their dog becomes the safe place they come to when life feels too heavy. They’re a quiet constant and a source of comfort and a safe place to land at the end of the day.

It’s that kind of connection that’s a huge part of what Dear Dog is about, capturing the relationships that make people feel understood, supported, and loved exactly as they are.

Zephie, Zasper and Miles came into my studio and immediately took over with their strong personalities.

These three little Australian Terriers kept me on my toes for their entire pet photography session and they certainly made their presence known.

Their humans describe them as naughty, playful, and always getting into mischief together, which felt pretty accurate after spending time with them.

Underneath all that energy, they’re also really affectionate little dogs who adore being close to their people.

Sessions like this are so much fun because every dog brings something completely different into the studio, and these three brought a whole lot of character with them.

Every dog has at least one weird habit.

Some insist on carrying shoes around the house. Some spin in circles before dinner. Some sleep upside down with all four legs in the air like total weirdos, which is Abe’s go-to!

We love them even more for their silly quirks.

Tell me, what’s your dog’s weirdest habit?

I love how Gloria and Violet mirror each other without even realising they’re doing it.

They were back in the studio recently for a Dear Dog session and Violet, as usual, posed up a storm while Gloria was her lovely self.

One of my favourite things about Dear Dog is seeing the way people and their dogs interact together. Sometimes it’s playful, sometimes it’s quiet, and sometimes they move and respond to each other in ways they probably don’t even notice themselves.

I also love it when clients become friends 💜

There are still a few spots left for Dear Dog. I’m looking for big dogs, little dogs, and the beautiful relationships they share with their humans.

If that sounds like you, comment “Dear Dog” or click the link in my bio to find out more.

One of my favourite things about Dear Dog sessions is that each one is completely different, because every dog brings their own personality into the studio.

Truffle’s owner didn’t want lots of posed portraits. She was after portraits that really captured the cheeky, fun little dog she knows and loves every day.

We spent the session playing, throwing her ball, using treats, and letting Truffle do what she does best, which is being a total cutie!

Portraits like this say so much about a dog’s personality. Happy, playful, cheeky, and full of life, this is exactly who Truffle is.

Shadow is Capucine’s diabetic alert dog, and the bond these two share is beautiful.

Capucine has trained Shadow since she was just 10 weeks old, and they’ve been together ever since. Shadow is with her every single day, and the connection between them is so strong that they barely need words to understand each other.

For a long time, Shadow would alert Capucine to dropping blood sugar levels before her sensor even picked it up, but Capucine admits she used to think Shadow was just looking for attention. Sure enough, 20 minutes later, she’d end up in a full hypo while Shadow looked at her as if to say, “I did try to tell you.”

It took a couple of years for Capucine to fully trust Shadow’s alerts, and now the two of them continue to build their relationship through different dog sports and activities together.

These two were an absolute joy to photograph, and their outdoor session was full of trust, teamwork, and connection.

Also, according to Capucine, her parents may love Shadow even more than they love her 😄
