I spent a little time with the Superb Fairywrens in the Sensory Garden at Coffs Harbour Botanic Garden today. I love photographing these little gems. So fast. So pretty. So photogenic.

Here's a selection of shots from the previous two months or so. I haven't been out much as I've had foot and ankle problems. They're a lot better now, so expect a bit more photography from me in the coming months.

Thanks for viewing, liking, commenting, sharing, or anything else you do in regard to my photos. I really appreciate it.

Here is a series of the successful catch the Striated Heron made yesterday. This species is now called Little Heron, apparently. I wish they would stop changing the names of these birds!

I was trying out some new gear today that can film what I see through my camera's viewfinder. I came across this Striated Heron hunting for fish at Hearnes Lake near Woolgoolga, NSW.

It moved so fast that I couldn't hit the shutter button quick enough and missed it rushing into the water. I did get some edge-of-the-frame pics of it plunging into the water, though. No fish this time.

The Australian White Ibis. A misunderstood, much ridiculed, yet amazing bird species.

I took this photo in the Coffs Harbour Botanic Garden. I love to photograph white ibis in natural settings; not scavenging from bins, not foraging among rubbish at tips, but in the beauty of nature, doing what they naturally do.

Have you ever looked at an ibis? I mean, really looked. The next time you see one, I urge you to stop and watch it go about its business. Look at the patterns in its tail feathers. Examine the texture on its bald face. Watch how it moves when it walks, takes off, or flies. I'll bet you will see a completely different bird, and you will think twice about calling it a Bin Chicken thereafter.
