This little Eastern Yellow Robin was not long out of the nest, I would think. It followed its parents around while they foraged for food and flew back to feed it.

Spring is definitely in the air. I arrived at the heath just in time for feeding yesterday. This young Eastern Yellow Robin was keeping Mum (or Dad) very busy collecting food for it. While they were gone, it tried its luck at snapping up the ants crawling on this branch. It was hilarious.

This very colourful thing is a Yellow-throated Scrubwren. The forest in Dorrigo National Park was teeming with these little gems when I visited. Their pear-shaped hanging nests can be seen everywhere in the rainforest, some quite near the walking trails. This one was headed back to the nest with a beak full of food for the young ones.

A successful day in the Dorrigo National Park yesterday. Both the male and female Paradise Riflebirds. Unfortunately, the male didn't display his beautiful colours or perform a mating display, but I guess you can't have everything you want all the time. 😉

More Chestnut-breasted Mannikins for you to enjoy. I think it might become a yearly pilgrimage: the trip to where I photographed these guys. They are so interesting and beautiful. The location was perfect for photos with the long grasses, barbed-wire fences, and quiet road. I may share some video footage from this experience soon. Keep watching this space. Alright. These little feathered legends have captured my heart. I couldn't resist going back to Raleigh this morning to try to get more photos of the Chestnut-breasted Mannikins. Not only were they there, but they were in a less timid mood.

For a reason I can't quite explain, these birds are so calming to me. If I were a bird, I would be friends with a chestnut-breasted mannikin. ☺️
