Golden Hour Numbat ⚡️

Sometimes the best moments happen just as the light is fading. 🌅 I watched this numbat navigating the fallen timber, waiting for that split second when it paused right in the path of the setting sun. 🪵 The way the light caught its eye and illuminated its striped coat made the waiting completely worth it. ✨📸

One of the things I love most about photographing birds is discovering the intricate details that often go unnoticed. While preening, this Glossy Ibis revealed a stunning array of iridescent feathers.

This image also gave me a chance to test something I’ve been curious about for a while. I paired an external 1.4× teleconverter with the built-in 1.4× TC on my Nikon Z 600mm f/4, giving an effective focal length of 1176mm wide open at f/8. I was pleasantly surprised by the results.

A chilly morning encounter with this beautiful Red-eared Firetail! ❄️

Have you ever noticed birds looking extra “round” on cold mornings? They are actually puffing up their feathers to trap a layer of air against their bodies, creating a natural down jacket to stay warm.
