Can you spot the tiny feather tucked in this baby's beak? ✨🐣

It is always a joy to witness these intimate parenting moments. This tiny Great Crested Grebe chick looks incredibly cozy nestled safely under its parent's wing while catching a ride across the water.💦

Fun fact: Grebe parents actively feed their chicks their own soft feathers! This unusual diet lines the baby's stomach, creating a protective barrier against sharp fish bones as they eagerly wait for the other parent. 🌿📸

A feast on the forest floor! 🌼

It’s always a treat to watch these vibrant Purple-crowned Lorikeets foraging together.🦜💛

An overcast morning at Lake Seppings delivered the goods! ☁️🌿

Spotted this tiny Southern Emu-wren showing off those incredible, wispy tail feathers. I absolutely love how the soft, diffused light makes that striking blue throat pop perfectly against the beautifully smooth, green bokeh. 📸💙

I spy with my little eye, a darling noolbenger perched on a scarlet banksia. 😍

Did you know that the noolbenger (Noongar, honey possum) feeds exclusively on nectar and pollen? They are the only marsupial in the world known to have such a specialised diet.

This species is an incredibly important pollinator of banksia flowers, and they have actually developed a symbiotic relationship with these plants.

The dependence of honey possums on the banksia flowers means they are able to discriminate ripe, nectar-bearing banksia flowers from immature unripe flowers. This skill enables the species efficiently to collect large quantities of pollen and nectar. Despite only weighing 5-20 grams, they can drink up to 7ml of nectar a day!

Look closely at this meticulous post-meal routine! ✨

I was incredibly lucky to capture this tiny Honey Possum delicately grooming its face and tongue after a heavy feeding session in the canopy. When your diet consists entirely of sticky nectar and pollen, staying clean is serious business!

Did you know that this grooming is essential for their survival? By meticulously cleaning their specialized, brush-tipped tongues and fur, they keep their delicate feeding equipment in perfect condition and ensure their coats remain insulating against the cool coastal winds. 🌿🐾

Zoom in on that incredible pink tongue! 👅

I was absolutely thrilled to capture this baby numbat stretching out its incredibly long, pink tongue.

Fun fact: Numbats don't actually have proper teeth for chewing! Because they swallow their prey whole, their teeth are blunt and peg-like, relying entirely on that incredible sticky tongue to do all the heavy lifting. 🌿💛

Always a thrill to spot one of my absolute favorites! ❤️

This gorgeous Red-capped Parrot is showing off those incredibly vibrant colors perfectly.🦜✨
