Hi, I’m MJ. Perth Hills photographer for newborns, maternity and families who want warm, relaxed photos without awkward posing or fake smiles.

Babies, bumps, kids, grandparents and dogs all welcome. Gorgeous newborn, maternity and family photography by Perth's trusted newborn photographer, Michelle Jones of Little Brown Rabbit Photography. Photo sessions are relaxed and friendly, and you are welcome to bring your own props and ideas. I'm obsessed! Like... HOW is his mama EVER going to say no to this face?!

If you were waiting for a sign to book a shoot......ANY shoot at all.... 🪧 👈 HERE it is. Because I remember Luca's newborn shoot. And both his sister's newborn shoots, and I feel like his was just yesterday and where has the time gone? They will never be this little again, and that's something worth documenting.

SAFETY FIRST, ALWAYS.

Hopefully it goes without saying, BUT your baby's safety and comfort are always my highest priority!

Here little Isla's legs are safely wrapped, so she can't "froggy" her way out of Dad's hat. Dad is holding his hat securely with both hands, and mum is supporting her head and is within arms reach to "spot". I's rather have a little extra work in post-production than take any risks to get "the shot".

CHRISTMAS IN THE HILLS MINI SESSIONS 🎄

Updated family photos, with just enough Christmas thrown in.

And because it’ll be hot and very possibly Beer-O-Clock, there may also be a cold one involved. Entirely optional. Very Hills.

These are short, relaxed outdoor family sessions at Greenmount National Park, photographed in that gorgeous late-afternoon light.

There’ll be a few festive bits on hand, including giant baubles and an oversized red velvet bow, but nothing too themed or over the top. Use them if you want, skip them if you don’t.

The idea is to give you a mix of Christmas-card-worthy photos and beautiful updated family photos you’ll still want hanging on the wall in February.

Postpartum and perimenopause hormones really said: take the hair off her head, leave the one on her chin. Bold choice.

No but seriously, if you've had a baby (or three) and found yourself doing a full CSI investigation on your chin in the car mirror... you are so deeply not alone. Nobody warns you about this bit. They tell you about the sleep and the feeds and maybe the hair falling out in the shower, but the resilient chin hair? Radio silence.

This is your sign to laugh about it instead of googling it at 11pm.

Check your wardrobe, mama! You may already have the perfect outfit.

This mumma wore a cream jumper and her favourite jeans. That's it. No styling appointment, no last-minute Zara run, no outfit anxiety. Just soft light, bare feet in the sand, and a family being exactly themselves.

Some of my favourite sessions come from the simplest wardrobe choices. Comfortable, familiar, "you". That's what photographs beautifully, every time.

Quick tip: stick to soft, neutral tones and avoid busy patterns or logos. It keeps the focus on your faces (and those gorgeous bumps), not the outfit.

So if you're prepping for a session and feeling overwhelmed by what to wear....take a breath. Your wardrobe has probably already got you covered. 🤎
