A few years ago I started volunteering with my dog Malibu as a Therapy dog at a nursing home, I started a page “Malibu Love Ambassador for the Elderly” to get my message out there about people with dementia, I had an old pocket camera I had never really used up till this day, I took a picture, put it on the page, it seemed that this was the way to get my message out to the world. Two years ago I r
eceived the most wonderful Christmas present from Julie an SLR camera, my love of photography grew. Malibu was diagnosed with Cushing’s disease early in 2016, her health is paramount to our family so it was with great sadness Malibu went into semi-retirement only doing odd work now and then. Julie has inspired me to go after my love of photography she believes my pictures speak without words. I often think how life can have so many different corridors, I have found that Malibu’s work with people with dementia one of the most inspiring paths of my life, with my photo’s often bringing smiles to so many people around the world. Now that Malibu is in semi-retirement, I have found myself taking pictures of nature these pictures are often of the very simple things in life, even with a simple picture of a fly can become so very interesting and even beautiful. It is with thanks to Malibu the scruffy little rescue dog that nobody wanted, leading me down this pathway of taking pictures that have touched so many people’s lives around the world. With immense gratitude for Julie’s support and encouragement with my photography that I now found something in life that gives me a splendid pleasure, with this page I hope that I can share where I live in Australia N.S.W the Hawkesbury district with people all around the world, giving them a sneak peek into our lives here in Aussie land.
