Well… take two 😂
If you saw this post briefly appear and then disappear — no, you weren’t imagining things. I removed it after realising the images I’d shared weren’t approved for social media. Absolutely no issue there and always something I’ll respect, so here we are again… same novel, different photos. 😂
It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything over here, and honestly, it’s been a while since I’ve photographed families too.
But I’m still here.
My focus has shifted in a slightly different direction lately — one that seems to have really sparked something in me creatively. But I still love photographing families, and I’m still very much taking bookings.
Photography is such an oversaturated industry, and social media has made it a strange place to try and build a small business. Sometimes it feels like people are more invested in the person behind an account and the life they’re sharing than the actual work they’re producing — and when you already have a huge social network behind you, that obviously helps.
I’m not originally from Victoria — I’m a NSW girly — so I didn’t come into this with 10,000 old school friends, cousins, neighbours and people I met once in 2012 still following along with my life 😂 I moved here without that built-in network, and my local social circle is pretty much me and my one friend.
So I’ve had to build my business differently, and almost entirely through word of mouth. Which I genuinely love… but there is one small flaw in that business model: when you don’t have clients, there’s nobody telling the next client about you. 😂
Anyway, I guess this is my unnecessarily long explanation for why I’ve been a little absent over here.
Social media is exhausting. The internet is exhausting. Sometimes it feels like passion, creativity and determination aren’t enough anymore — you need thousands of followers, perfectly curated lives, skin without a single bit of texture and a constant stream of content just to stay visible.
And sometimes… I just don’t have it in me.
But I’m still here. Still photographing. Still creating. Still loving what I do — just maybe a little quieter about it lately. 🤎
