I don’t know who these Lovley ladies are, but I greatly appreciate they chose my artworks as their backdrop, even matching an outfit to a piece 🙌🏻 😄

Honoured to announce I will be holding my next solo exhibition in this beautifully presented gallery on the Atherton Tablelands.

I've spent time over the years returning to this part of the world. The streets are lined with flowers, and even the traffic islands bloom.

Everywhere you look, the landscape is filled with colour.

And then there are the hydrangeas! (It's too hot & dry to grow them here).

Blue Hydrangeas are my favourite flowers of all. (Blue is the rarest flower colour)

They begin as the colour of a May sky, soft, deep blues gathered into great clouds of petals. As the season passes, the colour softens, and the rust emerges, until eventually the blues surrender themselves entirely.

A captivating and interesting transformation.

Can't wait to see it again!

And I hope to see you at the Tableland Regional Gallery from January to March next year! Book it in 😄

New subjects unfolding 🙌🏻

For a small time now I’ve collected fallen orchids.

It all started by purchasing one orange flowered orchid plant and leaving it on my desk. The intention, to keep it as a reminder of what I was working on.

It gave me a focus, and the ability to see flowers in different light, in different ways, in real time, all in the simplicity of my own space.

Observing, intentional and unintentionaly, every day at is changed, ever so slightly, until the flowers fell, not as petals but as whole flowers.

I left those flowers where they fell, watching each as it uniquely curled, its colours change, and its structure dried, taking photos intermittently in the afternoon light as it streamed through my kitchen window.

Eventually, in the finality, I had completely dried flowers… and that’s when the magic happened!…

Flowers, often recognised because of their colour.

Remove the colour, and something else begins to emerge.

The folds become landscapes.
The veins become rivers.
What first appeared delicate starts to feel resilient.

This is why macro photography continues to engage me. It's a cycle of the closer we look, the less certain we can become about what we're seeing, yet the more we see and perceive, and then the closer we look... 😄

Beyond Beauty by Creative Connections Whitsunday opens this Thursday, 30 July, at the Whitsunday Sailing Club, showcasing the finalists of this year's art exhibition and competition.

I'm honoured to have two of my works selected for this year's exhibition; my first time entering the awards.

If you're in the Whitsundays for the Great Barrier Reef Festival this weekend, I'd love for you to stop by and explore the incredible collection of work from artists spanning the Great Barrier Reef coast, from Agnes Water to Cooktown.

It's the perfect opportunity to experience how the region's artists interpret and see their landscape, how it influences them, and perhaps to understand how what you see can be expressed in such different ways.

Yesterday saw the opening of The 100 at Aspire Gallery, Brisbane.

It's always interesting seeing work change scale. Two pieces from my Lightborne series, originally created at just over a metre in length, have been reimagined for this exhibition in a much smaller format. The photographs haven't changed, only the way they're experienced. What once asked for a wall now asks for a shelf, a hallway, a quiet corner.

I'm grateful to once again have two works curated into the exhibition. If you're in Brisbane over the coming weeks, I hope you get the chance to spend some time with them.

They don’t throw the word ‘Champion’ around too often, but they certainly threw this certificate around 🤣 it has SEEN things!

The excessive white out, the ripped front and edges on both sides, but also my name spelt different on each one, and if you scroll to slide 2… an excessive amount of $5 notes as prize money. Where did they all come from 👀😬🤷🏻‍♀️🫣

Looks like it’s back to the courier’s again this week, this time to the Whitsundays! 🙌🏻 🏖️

One of the artworks selected is from my Master of Arts series. It’ll be nice to see it up on the walls again 😀

Kind of wild that I have had two selected! (Two different categories) 🥹

Exciting Times! x📷
