Winter has well and truly arrived. After a week of rain and another wet one on the forecast, the jackets and bibs have been getting a proper workout. Thankfully the weather has eased just in time for the long weekend.

Who’s heading out for a fish? 🎣

The Lake Hume Golden Perch are doing what they do every winter - holding tight in the smallest pockets of structure and not moving far for a feed. Getting a lure to hang in the strike zone for as long as possible has been the key to tempting a bite from these cold-water yellas.

Hopefully the long weekend brings a few bent rods and some quality fish! 🤙🐟

I’ve always loved tinkering with fishing gear and trying new ideas. There’s something pretty special about turning a bare jighead and a pile of fluff into a fly, then watching a metre-plus fish eat it . 👌🔥

Quick after-work session producing a stack of quality fish in the afternoon sun! Hard to believe we’re already down to the last few weeks of Autumn - the shorts probably won’t be getting much more mileage from here on out.

The Hume yellas are starting to slip into their winter mode now, packing on the weight and fighting extra dirty through the sticks. Absolute weapons this time of year.

Happy Australia Day 🇦🇺

A quick dash down the lake in the heat of the day turned up a stack of football-sized Yellas. Unreal to see so many people out on the water, soaking it up and celebrating what makes this place so special 🤙🍻

Kayak fishing down the river in search of Australian bass, skipping Z-Man finesse frogz deep into tight pockets of overhanging willows.

That’s where having the right prescription in your lenses really matters. Being able to clearly read structure, shade lines, and subtle changes along the banks makes all the difference. I’m running Mako Eyewear GT frames with a prescription brown lens and green mirror- a standout setup for shallow freshwater, cutting glare and letting every small detail pop when it counts.
