At Dockereys Road between Broadford and Tallarook, R761 blasts up the gradient with aplomb enroute to Echuca with Steamrail's "Echuca Explorer" tour.

This section of track is notable for having four parallel operational lines; the two lines in the foreground are part of a passing lane on ARTC's standard gauge network, which continues onwards to Brisbane, while the other two tracks are broad gauge to Seymour.

Steamrail's "Maldon Experience" tour slows to a halt on the outskirts of Elphinstone, where they would wait to cross a Melbourne-bound train from Swan Hill.

On the other side of town beyond the former station site - closed in 1981 along with thirty four others under the New Deal for Country Passengers - the double track ends, remaining single line through to Castlemaine.

Formerly double-tracked all the way to Bendigo, the Regional Fast Rail upgrades in the early 2000s saw large stretches of the line converted to single track to facilitate the upgrade to 160km/h line speed.

D3 658 (aka D3 639) strums through Spotswood on its way out west to Ballarat via Geelong.

Shortly after, Y112 with two W cars in tow cruised through Spotswood hot on the heels of the D3. The two carriages from Y112's train were added to the D3's, and the now 7-car train proceeded onwards to Ballarat.

Information on this tour is limited. I'm guessing Y112's train was merged at Newport, as the full consist was captured later at Hoppers Crossing.
