Quick question for everyone: do you still see value in the monthly Australian Model Railway News?
I’ve been thinking a lot about where I want to take the channel. I’d really like to spend more time making videos on railways big and small, layout tours, museum visits, trips, and more creative projects like FreeM009 and layout building.
The News is a bit different because it comes with a hard deadline every single month and relies heavily on communication from manufacturers. Quite often, information comes through late or goes unresponded, which can then lead to frustration from viewers which i see in emails and comments. Even after nearly five years of making it, I still don’t feel like I’ve found the right balance between getting the News done each month and having enough time for anything and everything else.
It can also be a little deflating when it feels like a lot of people watch the News, but not much else on the channel, especially when I enjoy making those other videos far more.
There’s no right or wrong answer, I’m just interested in getting a better idea of what people actually want to watch. Do you still look forward to the News each month? Do you see value in it? And what sort of other videos would you actually like to see more of?
