Mark Lobo Photography

Mark Lobo Photography A professional photographer in Melbourne, Australia. Specialising in photographing commercial, editorial and portrait photography.

Mark Lobo is a photographer based out of Melbourne Australia, working in commercial, editorial and portrait photography. Often bringing his studio out on location, he combines technical precision and natural expression to form his well recognised and colourful style. Playing off the surrounding environment and the genuine nature of his subjects, the result is both spontaneous and polished. Outside

of professional work, he finds inspiration through the people that surround him, travel photography and through his many side projects. Von Vintage, his current project, is a film photography series, which takes a look at the keepsakes of the past, remembered through the eyes of a dying media. Using old vintage film cameras, his images appear almost timeless, photographs that could have been shot half a century ago, or yesterday. In 2013, Mark continues to work both commercially and on the Von Vintage project, exhibiting and selling his prints online.

I’ve been taking a little break in Hawaii and I think I’ve just seen my future self in this legend. Strolling down the beach with a puppy in one arm and a poke bowl in the other. I can’t wait to be you. 🤙

Spending a few days in a cute old cottage in the Grampians with some amazing afternoon light. and I spent a few hours escaping the heat, setting up a few fun portraits and playing around with some ideas. I was reminded of how liberating and refreshing it can be to go into a shoot with no real plan, just working with the environment and what I have. Something I used to do a lot more of when I was starting out. Hoping to do this a lot more in 2019!

Was back at again this morning, working through some ideas for a few big commissioned still-lifes that I’ll be shooting. I was digging through some archives, looking for some old cameras to incorporate into one of the pieces and found this beautiful old Yashica of . This was from a photographic getaway with a bunch of creative peeps out at Fall’s Creek, when we drove up into the mountains in search of snow. ☃️

Spent another productive morning working my way through my forgotten archives at . This was a surreal moment at Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon where we were taken out on a zodiac through the glacial icebergs as they slowly drifted out towards the ocean.

Spent a quiet Sunday morning co-working at ‘ attempting to delve deeper into my ever growing archive of forgotten photos. This was photographed on the stunning black sand beaches of Vik, Iceland. I had taken a few 13 second exposures, most of which sadly ended up with a bit of camera shake thanks to the relentless, buffeting winds. So I dedicated this morning’s session to manually correcting the camera shake and have fallen in love with this image (and Iceland) all over again.
