Monique Parry had the courage of a lion, the grace of a swan, the body of a baby giraffe. She was generous by default & selfless beyond measure. Her energy was contagious, her elegance lit up every room she walked in. She lived & breathed over 60 countries in her short 38 years & excelled in every career she devoted her heart to. An enigma, true & through. The hostess with the mostest, the queen of celebration, a loyal & devoted sistar, an endearing present friend.
How fortunate i feel that i started my business with her in my corner, shining ever so brightly by my side. We are talking years before instagram even existed….. i feel beyond lucky to exist in such a time.
The week i ended my former life, she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. While she faced the ultimate journey of this human experience, she so graciously held me while i was convinced my life was over. The grief i have carried for being gifted a second chance, while her soul is busy conquering the next, has cracked me wide open & humbled me to the floor.
She surpassed the most dangerous whipple surgery with flying colours & while traversing the hell that is chemotherapy, she was adamant that she was going to “pay me” to capture her brave & glorious bald head. Her determination to live was a strength i have never experienced. Mon wished to honour her accomplishment of beating pancreatic cancer, choosing me to create the imagery for the book she was yet to write.
She unexpectedly left this life before I was given a chance to fulfil her wish & it transformed the trajectory of my purpose in a way that no other human ever has or ever could.
Monique Parry, once a step-mama, a dog mama, a horse mama, not destined to be a biological mama, yet a mother to all. She has opened my eyes & my heart to be of service to all beings like her, i wish to honour these kindred spirits in her name.
What a disservice to humanity to believe ageing is a curse. May we choose to unravel our conditioning forevermore.
