It’s pretty special to look around the studio today and think about where it all started.

What began as a vision has grown into something much bigger than we could ever have imagined, but the heart of what we do has stayed exactly the same.

Studio Republic was always dreamed up as a space where people could step into something different, see themselves from a new perspective, and leave feeling a little more connected to who they are.

We believe that seeing yourself differently can change something within you, and that feeling follow you long after you leave the studio.

Fear has a funny way of making us believe we need to feel ready before we can do something.

But sometimes you just have to stop negotiating with yourself and give yourself the chance to see what happens.

Because you might spend so much time worrying about how you’ll look, whether you’ll feel comfortable, or whether you’ll be brave enough to do it...

Only to get there and realise you were capable of so much more than you thought.

The biggest thing standing between you and a completely different experience is simply deciding not to let fear make the decision for you 🤎

What if you stopped waiting for permission from yourself?

Maybe the thing standing between you and what you want isn’t fear. Maybe it’s the rules you’ve created around it.

We spend so much time waiting until we feel ready, confident, qualified or “enough” before we give ourselves permission to go for something.

But what if you didn’t need to be any of those things first? What if you just started?

Sometimes the confidence, clarity and courage we’re waiting for only come after we take the first step.

Choosing yourself can be a small decision with a very big impact.

It might begin with one choice to do something for you. To step outside your comfort zone. To see yourself differently. To remember that you matter, too.

But it rarely ends there.

Because when you start believing you’re worth choosing, you begin to make different choices everywhere else. You show up differently in your relationships. You carry yourself differently at work. You become more willing to speak up, take chances, set boundaries, walk away from what no longer feels right and make space for what does.

It’s about what becomes possible when you start backing the person you already are.

And sometimes, one decision is all it takes to start a ripple far bigger than you ever imagined.

What if confidence has less to do with changing yourself, and more to do with finally seeing yourself clearly?

We spend so much time looking at ourselves through a critical lens.

What we’d change.
What we’ve lost.
What we’re not anymore.
What we think we should be.

We become so focused on the things we don’t like that we forget to see everything else.

Your personality.
Your strength.
Your story.
Everything you’ve survived.
Everything you’ve become.

That’s why being truly seen can feel powerful. Because sometimes you don’t need someone to tell you that you’re beautiful. You need to see yourself in a way that reminds you that there was always more to you than the things you picked apart.

And that’s where confidence starts.

We’re so quick to say things about ourselves that we would never say to someone we love.

“I’m not good enough.”
“I look terrible.”
“I don’t recognise myself anymore.”

And the truth is, we all do it. We’re human. We go through things, we change, we have bad days, and sometimes the voice in our head gets a little too loud.

But just because a thought is familiar doesn’t mean it deserves to be believed.

Sometimes confidence starts with breaking the pattern.

With catching yourself halfway through the sentence and asking, Would I speak to someone I love this way?

Because the more we practise speaking to ourselves differently, the more natural it becomes.

And imagine how much more beautiful life could feel if we learned to be a little more forgiving of ourselves.
