Some sessions come together in the best possible way.

Dr Cheng Li is a Respiratory and Sleep Medicine Physician who had just joined the team at the Sleep & Breathing Specialist Centre in St Leonards. He needed a professional headshot for the clinic website — clean, friendly, engaging and professional.

He squeezed in between a busy schedule and somehow managed to make the whole thing feel completely relaxed. We talked about travel, laughed a lot, and got exactly what he needed.

This is what I love about headshot sessions — when the person in front of the camera is at ease, it shows in every single frame.

What do you do when your 9-to-5 is corporate banking but your passion is getting people moving?

You get professional photos that cover both.

Heidi came to me for corporate headshots for her banking career — and while she was here, personal branding images for her Zumba business too. Her black Zumba top did double duty. Practical, efficient, and very Heidi.

She's been a certified Zumba instructor since 2018. Seven classes a week across Hornsby, Asquith and Waitara — PCYC, Fernwood, St John's Anglican Church. Zumba and Zumba Sentao. She recently ran a masterclass for 120 Year 10 girls. The school loved her so much they signed her up again this year.

Her students say she has infectious energy and the best smile in the room. I can confirm — both are completely real.

Because when you love what you do, it deserves to be seen properly.

Lucy has spent nearly two decades leading complex design and architectural projects across Sydney and London. She's an Associate Director, a sustainability thought leader, a speaker and a published author.

She didn't need new headshots because her old ones were bad. She just wanted something cleaner. Fresher. More her right now.

She came into the studio, told me what she was after, and handed the creative over to me completely.

We moved between the studio — clean white backdrop, simple and considered — and outside into the bush backdrop of our Lane Cove garden. Two very different feels, both completely her.

This is my favourite kind of session. A client who knows who they are, trusts the process, and just lets it unfold.

Some shoots start with a brief. This one started with a phone call on a Friday morning and a deadline of Monday at 9pm.

Hugh Fleming Dentistry in Mosman needed headshots for their two lead dentists — Hugh and Mary — fast. Not just simple headshots either. Different outfits, different settings, consulting rooms, scrubs, suits, even a beautiful zen garden backdrop.

We played. We created. We laughed a lot.

Hugh and Mary were exactly the kind of people you want in front of your camera — warm, friendly and completely at ease once we got going. The clinic itself has the same energy — calm, welcoming and beautifully considered.

Sometimes the best gifts are the ones that become family treasures.

Three siblings reached out wanting to surprise their mum with professional portraits for her birthday.

Miss I (18) and her brothers (20 and 24) coordinated everything - they wanted individual shots of each of them plus a group portrait of all three together.

We met at Longueville Park near the wharf. Beautiful location, lovely light, and three siblings who genuinely enjoy each other's company - which always makes for authentic portraits.

They chose beautiful prints and acrylic frames, ready to present to their mum.

There's a particular kind of energy that comes with stepping into a new executive role. You know who you are. You know what you bring. You just need photos that show it.

What the photos don't show is what happened before we started shooting. Jo had faced a really tough morning. The kind that would leave most people wanting to cancel and go home.

She didn't. And part of my job that day was helping her leave that weight at the studio door — so that by the time we started shooting, the woman in front of my lens was warm, confident and completely herself.

That's what I love most about this work. The photos we made that day? You'd never know.

Some sessions just flow beautifully from start to finish.

Ben came in for corporate headshots for Azura Financial. He knew what he needed, trusted the process, and we created headshots that exceeded his expectations.

Some people just know how to get things done efficiently.

Manu worked her way from dental assistant to practicing dentist at Quay Dental - studying while working six-day weeks for years. So when the practice needed updated team photos, she wasn't about to waste time on multiple sessions.

She booked the works: professional hair and makeup, corporate headshots for her new role, and family portraits with her husband and 9-year-old son straight after.

One session. Professional images for the practice sorted. Family photos captured. Done.

And she had fun doing it - which is exactly how these sessions should feel.

Sometimes the best sessions happen in the spaces that inspire the work itself.

I photographed Felicity from Clarkin Designs at one of her client's homes in Greenwich for her rebrand. She works at Globe West and is building her private interior design practice, so she needed authentic content that shows her expertise and aesthetic.

We spent the session capturing her in her element - styling, curating, bringing her vision to life in beautiful spaces. Both stills and b-roll footage for her website and social media.

What I love about personal branding photography: it's collaborative storytelling. We're not just taking pictures - we're showing who you are and what makes your work special.
