Hi my name is Katrina Tait and I live in Jimboomba, halfway between the Gold Coast and Brisbane with my wonderful husband and four children.

I am a natural light photographer who covers Maternity, Newborn, Kids/Family, Cake Smash, Couples and Weddings. I have a large air conditioned studio and also do location shoots. I was having a conversation with my mum the other day and she told me about when she was at school and she really wanted to be a nurse. But her family moved around a lot which resulted in her changing high schools regularly and made school more of a struggle. A teacher once asked her what she wanted to be and when she said a nurse they told her she would never become one. She said she then set out to prove them wrong. She did become a nurse and loved it, working up until she had children and then became the most amazing mum to me and my siblings. Back then it was cheaper to make clothes so she often made all our things to save money. Along with her own mother she made us so many beautiful pieces over the years, including my deb dress. She has then made my own children so many amazing quality pieces which is why we told her she must start this business. I don't think she had the confidence to start with, but then she must have remembered high school and decided to find that courage, and give it a go! And here is Poppa Dolly Creations. Thank you so much to everyone for the amazing support for her yesterday and here are a few more photos of her gorgeous pieces. And one has already sold! Thank you again Ezra and Florence, and also my three little helpers, Anika, Lacey and Tilly you guys were fabulous.

This is a very special post for me. These are the photos to officially launch my amazing mum's handmade clothing business Poppa Dolly Creations. She is such an incredibly talented seamstress and we have finally convinced her to turn her love of sewing into a business. Using a mix of vintage and modern patterns with her own adaptions, and fabrics sourced from many different places she has created her first pieces. Hello All. I am looking for a size 4 model who might be available in the next week or so to model three outfits for me. My lovely mother will be officially launching her children's clothing business and I need to take some photos for her designs. This dress here was her first creation and sold the day I posted the photo! Bonus points if you have a size 6 sister or friend that would like to come along because I also have one size 6 dress to photograph for her as well. We will probably do the shoot outdoors but I haven't decided where yet.

This morning I watched my two boys at their sports carnival and one thing really struck me. While watching high jump there was one child left in trying to go for the record. All the others had been knocked out but they cheered so loud for their classmate to succeed, and when he got it they all ran up and hugged him. I also saw a little boy 7 years old just get pipped at the line in the 100m sprint. The first thing he did was shake the winners hand and pat him on the back. It was just beautiful. In my very first year of photography I almost gave up. I was pretty awful back then (sorry to anyone I did photos of at that time) and after doing a post one day on Facebook I had two other more experienced photographers who were friends with each other completely attack my work in the comments and say the nastiest things. Thankfully my lovely husband encouraged me not to give up, but I was heartbroken at the time. Last week when working with Yulia she said the nicest things about my work and these photos are some of my favourite ever. But I would never have taken them if I didn't learn from the bad ones at the start. I think children generally have the most beautiful hearts (which is why I love working with them) but somewhere along the way everyone starts trying to outdo each other and in this day and age it leads to some pretty nasty online comments. There is room for everyone to shine! So next time you see someone just starting out at something give them a word of encouragement, it might just make a big difference to their journey.

Just a few more of gorgeous Yulia in the very stylish Wacker clothing. Yulia is seriously the most down to earth and genuine model you could work with. Although she has travelled Europe as an opera singer, has her own Opera company, and has modelled for the likes of Vogue she truly could not be a nicer more genuine person. Very true to what she feels is right and completely devoted to her husband and children she manages to look absolutely stunning and effortlessly glamorous whilst being so incredibly grounded. Working with her is so easy! When she asked me if I wanted to do this shoot with her while she was in Australia, I jumped at the chance and I know it will be one of my favourite shoots of the year.

Last year I had the chance to work with the most incredible model. Today I was so excited to have the opportunity to work with Yulia again and it was just as much fun as last time. She was modelling some gorgeous outfits form Wacker clothing a beautiful brand made right here in QLD. She is just the most talented and gorgeous lady and would you believe she owns an opera company in Europe as well! I love getting the chance to work with such amazing people and have some creative fun together!

Does anyone else love the book Heidi? It is absolutely one of my favourites even as I get older. I love the idea of a childhood spent on the mountains amongst the wildflowers and goats. As soon as we dressed little Zoe in this adorable outfit her mum said it reminded her of Heidi and maybe this is why I love this photo of her so much! I think I need to do more Heidi inspired photos!!
