Low tide at Point Vernon showing off the coral reefs at their best. 🌊

These recent drone shots are a great reminder of how unique and beautiful our coastline is — and why the Point Vernon foreshore deserves proper care, maintenance and protection.

Sometimes the best views are right in front of us.

FCDP On Tour — Yeppoon Esplanade & Marina

Not Fraser Coast this time — but when the drone goes up and the coastline looks this good, it deserves a share. These aerials capture the Yeppoon Esplanade precinct — a standout example of how smart, staged foreshore redevelopment can transform a beachfront into a vibrant, all-ages destination.

A few interesting highlights about Yeppoon’s foreshore evolution:

The oceanfront lagoon pool has become the signature feature of the esplanade — a free, resort-style public swimming space designed to work with the natural coastline and views.
The marina and sailing club precinct supports local sailing, visiting boats and reef access — helping drive tourism and marine activity across Keppel Bay.
The beachfront amphitheatre and terraced lawns host concerts, markets, festivals and community events year-round.
Multiple playground zones and shaded park areas have been progressively added — making the strip genuinely family-friendly, not just scenic.
Restaurants, cafés and mixed-use buildings now line key sections of the foreshore, turning it into a day-to-night social strip.
Wide walking and cycling paths link the marina, lagoon, town centre and parks — creating one continuous, usable waterfront.

Great planning, steady investment, and coastal lifestyle done right.

Point Vernon showing off at low tide

There’s something unreal about this stretch of the Hervey Bay coastline when the water pulls back — the sand bars, rock shelves, coral reefs and aqua colours come alive and you can really see how the bay curves around Point Vernon.

Low tide might not be everyone’s favourite… but it sure makes for some pretty special patterns from above.

TOOAN TOOAN CREEK at LOW TIDE = pure Hervey Bay magic

When the tide drops, Tooan Tooan Creek turns into a full-on coastal artwork…
sandbanks, winding channels, and those unreal Bay colours

Most people cruise past and miss it — but low tide is when it really shows off.

Moon Point, K’Gari (Fraser Island) — and the January near-full-moon tide is absolutely flexing. Big lunar pull, big water, big magic: sand flats vanish, mangroves turn into twisting waterways, and the whole coastline lights up in that unreal K’Gari turquoise.

Wathumba Creek, K’gari (Fraser Island) — remote, wild, and ridiculously photogenic. Tucked along the island’s western beach at Platypus Bay, Wathumba is famous for the contrast you can see even from above: tea-coloured, tannin-stained water meeting crystal-clear saltwater, over bright sandbanks that look like someone painted them in. At high tide the creek system can open up into a broad, calm lagoon — and the surrounding mangroves do a lot of heavy lifting protecting the shoreline and providing habitat for marine life.

These shots were taken today on a 3.9m high tide — perfect timing to show Wathumba at its most glassy and full.

Big 4 metre high tide today, Point Vernon looked magnificent.
