hi, I’m Zara 👋

you probably already know that. but I realised I never actually *show up* here… like, as a human, not just as the person behind the camera.

so here we are. me, my beautifully chaotic kids, my extraordinarily patient husband Shauny, and approximately fifteen ideas running through my head right now, all equally urgent, none of them waiting their turn.

some people call that ADHD. I call it a creative brain doing what it’s supposed to. Dreaming, making things up, getting distracted by the light hitting something at a weird angle and suddenly losing twenty minutes.

I also realised (in true cobbler’s-children fashion ) that I have almost zero photos of my own family. so getting these taken by my incredibly talented friend .photography felt like a big deal. walls, here they come.

anyway. thank you for being here. genuinely. for following along, for trusting me with your families and brands, for appreciating what I make. it means more than I probably say often enough.

There’s something that happens when a family is in their own space. They stop thinking about the shoot. They just lean into each other, the way they always do, and I get to be a fly on the wall.

The moments that end up meaning the most are never the ones anyone planned. They’re the ones that would have happened whether I was there or not. And somehow those are the images that have the most depth, the most feeling in them.

For years I told myself I wasn’t a real photographer. I’m self taught, no formal training, just a mum who fell in love with light and stubborn enough to keep going.

I photograph families and I love it. But I’ve always had this quiet pull toward editorial work, and I’ve been letting imposter syndrome talk me out of it for way too long.

So looks like I’m doing it anyway and I’m excited to share this very scary but equally exciting journey with you ❤️

Every marketing rule says I should narrow down, pick one lane and stay there.

But curiosity has always been the thing that makes me a better artist. I’m not willing to lose that just to make the algorithm more comfortable 😅

So lately I’ve been exploring new territory creatively and it feels really, really good.
