This is where all the problems started

When I saw these photos, I knew I wanted to make something similar

Step one was figuring out the dimensions of the fabric and using gradients to design the prints.

I had to call in a few favours to get the fabric printed at my old workplace

But the biggest hurdle was organising the logistics of getting me, the models and the weather to line up!

I needed to have the day off, the weather needed to be warm but windy, and I needed models willing to travel to a secluded beach in Byron at short notice.

After 2 failed attempts, the day came.

We took 1400 photos, so culling and editing was a mission.

And then after that !... I had to make this reel.

Art looks effortless, but the process rarely is.

How did I go from this to this?

I started editing by playing with the exposure and highlights to separate the subject from the background.

Next, the cropping was very important. Because the person in this photo isn’t just a model. She’s an amazing painter named Eira-Shay, and the goal of this photo shoot was to possibly inspire a painting.How did I go from this to this?

I started editing by playing with the exposure and highlights to separate the subject from the background.

Next, the cropping was very important. Because the person in this photo isn’t just a model. She’s an amazing painter named , and the goal of this photo shoot was to possibly inspire a painting.

I spent some time removing distractions from the surface of the water.

The photo started to feel Ethereal. The pose and the light led me toward the idea of adding a glow, as if light was radiating from her chest.

Finally, I refined the colours and brought everything together into one of the most beautiful images I’ve ever created.
