We meet at the Caulfield RSL and alternate between club competitions, workshops and speakers. We pay our respect to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Isla

HISTORY OF CAULFIELD PHOTOGRAPHIC SOCIETY

Photography has been a part of Caulfield almost from the time it was first settled. Through to 1983 there were clubs in the district at East Malvern, at Caulfield Technical College (now a Campus of Monash University) and at Carnegie. The present club commenced its life as St Anthony's Camera Club founded by Paul Robinson in 1980. The club mutated through several phases including 1989, when the first Introduction to Photography Course was held. This put the club on a more sound financial and membership footing. In 1991 the club moved to the Parish Hall at St Peters Church in Carnegie with a change of name to Caulfield Photographic Society. As of April, 2023, the time came that we needed to move on to new club rooms and with the support of the Caulfield R.S.L. we are now located at their premises in St. Georges Road, Elsternwick. Club members have been extremely successful at Club, State, National and International Photographic Competitions and Exhibitions. These members have become highly respected members of the amateur photographic movement. The club continues to provide services to its members and it is also a member of the Victorian Association of Photographic Societies Inc (VAPS).

What a fantastic initiative.

After four years of quietly collecting and recycling used film canisters, Melbourne-based Ikigai Camera Lab has reached a significant milestone, diverting more than one metric tonne of film plastic from landfill through what it describes as Australia's first film community recycling initiative.

The Williamstown North lab says the achievement is roughly equivalent to keeping 180,000 35mm film containers out of the waste stream.

Thank you to Jake Nowakowski for his presentation on his life in photojournalism. Jake was awarded the prestigious Walkley Award as press photographer of the year in 2023, and gave a fascinating look into his photography, inspiring and sometimes confronting.
A good turnout and I hope everyone got some inspiration for our Photojournalist Set Subject due later this year.

One of the fantastic presenters from this years VAPS Convention. Thank you for your wonderful presentation.

Huge thanks to everyone who made this weekend so magical. To the VAPS Convention team who invited me to speak, to the fabulous friends I caught up with in Seymour, Echuca and Moama, to the friends from Knox Photograph Society and other photography groups, to the absolutely wonderful audience and to all the people I spoke with following my presentation (I wish I knew all of your names so we could catch again) and to the clubs who have invited me to visit. And to those at home who looked after Ruby and kept the bird baths filled. And then to get home and receive heaps of unbelievably wonderful hugs from the little peeps I'm blessed to have in my life. Millions of thank yous to you all 🤗🥰❤️
