Sport. In a single moment, dreams can be realised and hearts can be broken.

The Devonport Strikers experienced both ends of that spectrum over the long weekend in the Football Tasmania Statewide and Lakoseljac Cup Finals.

For the women, it was another chapter in what has become one of the most remarkable periods of success seen in Tasmanian football. Year after year they continue to set the standard, and once again they found a way to get the job done when it mattered most.

For the men, it was heartbreak.

After leading for much of the match and defending courageously against a quality opponent, they were denied in the dying moments. Extra time couldn’t separate the sides, and as cruel as football can sometimes be, the cup was ultimately decided from the penalty spot.

That’s the reality of sport. The highest highs and the lowest lows can exist within the same weekend, sometimes within the same game.

But if there’s one thing sport teaches, it’s resilience. Disappointment has a way of bringing people together, strengthening bonds and building the character that often drives the future.
One team leaves with success, another with heartbreak, but both have plenty to be proud of.

One of Australia’s biggest brewers, James Boag & Son (no longer locally owned), has announced its decision to cease production of its iconic Tasmanian beer portfolio by the end of this year.

Another victim of the big corporate conglomerate. Regardless of how things look day to day, the numbers rule the roost. I've been been there and done that.

It’s a sad scenario for Tasmania.

But what’s next?

I knew I had some photos of the brewery from when I was commissioned to shoot a series of iconic night images around the region.
Hard to believe this was 10 years ago!

I hope everything works out for those effected by the impending closure..... Cheers to Boags! 🍻❤
