Great to see my photo featured in the online gallery of 212 images in the Landscape category; and to receive a Highly Commended award in the Asia Pacific Photography Awards! I really appreciate competitions that offer written feedback. It was genuinely helpful.

This aerial image was taken in one of my favourite locations: the Kennedy Range National Park (Mundatharrda) in Western Australia; a remote, rugged landscape in the Shire of Upper Gascoyne, about 1000 km north of Perth, a 4WD adventure. Have you been?

I love Cape Leveque at the top of the Dampier Peninsula 2.5 hours north of Broome, and feel special having stayed twice at Kooljaman when it was still open. Western Australia is soo beautiful! Experiencing the pindan red cliffs in sunrise and sunset light is one of my best travel memories so far.

The APP - is one of my favourite competitions as it provides two live feedback sessions prior to submission, and a written feedback after the judging took place.

The live judging for the top 30 is the icing of the cake, so much you can learn from and very inspiring, especially from one of my favourite photographers from Western Australia, Tony Hewitt.

This year, I received a Highly Commended Award. This is the written feedback:

"This image demonstrates strong visual communication, with an effective visual metaphor that evokes the female form.

Technically, the image is well exposed and sharply focused, featuring a pleasing and cohesive colour palette.

One area for potential improvement would be to consider colour matching the bushes at the bottom of the frame, perhaps by reducing contrast, to better harmonise with the overall composition.

Overall, it is a striking and thought-provoking image that’s sure to spark conversation. Congratulations on your Highly Commended!"
