One of the things that has always blown my mind about birds is their sheer speed: the constant, unstoppable movement, sudden changes in direction, the total alertness... which, btw, makes bird photography such a challenge! 📸. For illustration purposes, in the first part of this clip, I slowed the footage down by 60%—and the bird still feels fast! :) The second half shows the actual, real-time speed. Enjoy! 👇✨

Una de las cosas que siempre me ha capturado sobre las aves es su velocidad. El movimiento constante e imparable, cambios repentinos de dirección, su alerta absoluta... ¡que de hecho convierte la fotografía de aves en un reto! 📸. Para ilustrar mi punto, en la primera parte de este video, reduje la velocidad en un 60%, ¡y aun así el ave se percibe rápida!! La segunda mitad muestra la velocidad real, sin cambios! Disfrútalo! 👇✨

Tomada mientras caminaba la Reserva Curi-Cancha en Monteverde. Este pequeño estaba muy ocupado atrapando insectos y no se preocupó mucho de las camaras... :) !

This Abert's Towhee is a frequent visitor of the feeders in my backyard. I use to see him/her eat the suet, then pick some and fly away. The other day, the baby showed up to feed with the parent. :)
