It’s the post we hate to make.
In fact, in nearly 7 years of charging for BGP photos we’ve had only 𝙩𝙬𝙤 price increases.
We’ve always operated on a high volume, low price sales strategy and until last year it had worked really well for us. Unfortunately, a myriad of reasons all came together at the one time and last year our sales plummeted.
At some events not only did we not break even, we actively lost money. This meant we had to seriously consider how we handle things going forward.
Fast forward to this year, prices are increasing for everything, the cost of doing business has increased exponentially, fuel is through the roof (we travel up to 8 hours for some events, that’s a lot of fuel!) and people have less spare funds than ever to spend on things like photos— it doesn’t look good. (Also, no I didn’t use AI to write this, I’ve just always loved a good em dash, en dash and a hyphen or 40 lol).
This has lead me to the reluctant decision to increase prices.
We still want to keep our prices- in my opinion- low for the service we provide and we still want to provide generous discounts for the people that support us with multiple photo purchases.
We’ve gone through and had a look at what we sell a lot of, what we don’t, where we’re missing out etc. and as a result the bigger increases are at the smaller end of the order sizes- with the major increases being to the single and 2 photo offerings.
Even those products have simply been increased to better fit into the price brackets that other media on our area operate in, but for us that still represents a hefty increase.
I know I don’t need to explain cost of doing business to anyone or how we’ve been absorbing the rapidly growing increase in it over the last few years but I can’t deny I feel bad.
I really hope you still find us great value and I’ll do what I can as always to offer the best service and value for your hard earned cash!
You will notice an asterisk on the pic below with the caveat that these prices will be reassessed mid-way through the year.
The increases that we’ve put on the prices aren’t actually enough to make up the losses we made at some events last year, these prices would still have us behind at some but I’m hoping combined with the more successful of our events this will put us in a better position overall and I think they’re a happy medium between looking after us and looking after you guys.
With that being said I do have a small fear that with the increased price of absolutely everything these days sales could potentially drop even further in the upcoming year and so once we have scoped out the sales environment in the first half of this year we will then decide whether to keep this price scheme or if further changes to pricing and operating methods are needed.
These prices will only apply to events from 17/03/2026 onwards and purchases from past events will be at the prices we had at the time of the event.
As always, our pricing structure will remain the same at every event, regardless of whether there is only us there or whether there is 50 photographers there.
We won’t price gouge when we’re the only option you have and we won’t lower prices when we’re working alongside others to undercut or be more competitive - what you can see is what you can expect, anywhere, everywhere.
For full transparency I've included our new prices with a comparison to the old prices, plus the individual photo costs so you can see the breakdown of where and what the increases are 🩵
We’ll see you out very soon, and I promise the posts from now on will be a bit cheerier and full of better news!
(Including National Capital Horse Trials Association bookings and some other exciting news for NCHTA tomorrow 👀)
Thank you as always for letting us share your journey with you and we can’t wait to get the year started!
