They almost let being uncomfortable in front of the camera stop them from capturing their son's FIRST Christmas. 🥹🎄

And then they ended up wanting EVERY. SINGLE. PHOTO. 🩷

Let me tell you why…

Last year, this beautiful little family booked their very first professional family photos.

Like so many families I meet, they weren't exactly comfortable in front of the camera.

But it was their little boy's first Christmas.

His FIRST one. 🥹

And they knew this was a chapter they wanted to remember.

So they pushed past those nerves, showed up and trusted me to capture their little family just as they were.

And when their gallery arrived?

They loved their photos SO much that they upgraded to the entire gallery! 😭🩷

And THIS is why I do what I do.

Because sometimes the hardest part of family photos isn't getting the kids to cooperate.

It's convincing ourselves that we're worthy of being in them.

That we don't need to lose the weight, find the perfect outfit or suddenly become comfortable in front of a camera.

We just need to show up.

Because your babies don't see the things you pick apart about yourself.

They see their Mumma.
Their safe place.
Their whole world. 🥹

And one day, this little boy will have photos of his very first Christmas, with the two people who made it so special.

THAT is what makes these photos priceless.🩷

I think it's time I reminded you of something…

You don't have to wait until bub is here to book family photos.

Because this chapter? The one where you're growing another little human while loving on the ones already here?

It deserves to be remembered too. 🥹

The growing bump.
The little hands resting on your belly.
The cuddles before there's another little person to share them with.
The family you are right now, just before everything changes again.

There's something so special about documenting that in-between stage of motherhood.

And while I absolutely LOVE photographing newborns, I love capturing the journey that brings us to them just as much. 🩷

Maternity. Newborn. Family. And all the beautiful, messy, wonderful chapters in between.

You don't have to wait for the next milestone to be worthy of photos, Mumma.

Turns out being a family photographer does NOT make getting your own family photos any easier. 😂🫠

Yesterday it was OUR turn to get in front of the camera for our Christmas photos and let me tell you…

I GET IT, MUMMAS. I REALLY DO. 😂🩷

The outfit planning. Getting everyone ready. Trying to make sure nobody destroys their clothes before you even leave the house.

And that's before you've even arrived at the session! 🤣

So if you've ever worried that your family is going to be too chaotic for photos, please know that even your photographer is out here experiencing the exact same thing.

And honestly? It's such a good reminder of why I do things the way I do.

Because the last thing you need after getting everyone dressed and out the door is MORE pressure to have perfectly behaved children.

You just need someone who understands. 🩷

The brief: TRUCKS. 🚚

Not construction trucks. Not monster trucks. Just… trucks.

Our very particular little birthday boy knew EXACTLY what he wanted for his 4th birthday. 😂

So naturally, Mum and I decided we'd make his cake ourselves.

How hard could it be?! 🤡

Turns out… a little harder than anticipated. 😂🎂

There were definitely some questionable moments along the way, but we got there in the end.

And honestly? The finished cake didn't need to be perfect.

Because the second Rory saw it, his little face said everything. 🥹❤️

That's the only goal I ever have when making my babies' birthday cakes.

Not perfection. Not Pinterest-worthy masterpieces.

Just a cake that makes their little faces light up.🥹

And getting to make these memories with my own Mum along the way? That's pretty special too. 🩷

Here's to another year of wildly ambitious birthday cake ideas and wondering why we don't just buy one. 🤣🎂

When newborn photography meets a little documentary magic. 🥹🩷

And honestly? I think I'm a little bit obsessed.

This session was a beautiful blend of two of my favourite things to photograph. Those precious, fleeting newborn days AND the beautiful, everyday chaos of family life.

We followed the toddler's lead, let them play, explore and do their thing, all while capturing those tiny newborn details and the sweetest little moments as a family of four. 🥹

No pressure to sit still. No expectation for big sibling to suddenly become a professional at family photos. 😂

Just a family settling into their newest chapter, exactly as they are.

And THAT is what I love most about blending these two styles.

Your newborn gets their moment.
Your toddler gets to be a toddler.
And you get to remember what these early days actually felt like. 🩷

I have a feeling I'll be doing a whole lot more of this. 🥹📸
