Joy Kachina Photography My Photographic Journey through the Heart of the Wild Island State of Tasmania Award Winning Landscape Photographer.

Capturing the beauty that is the Tasmanian Wilderness Australia. The natural world holds a special place in my heart. My goal is to bring people back into connection with the natural world through my imagery. My photography is always evolving and I am now moving into a more artistic and creative side exploring impressionism and intentional camera movement also known as ICM. This is an creative pro

cess which allows me the freedom to use my camera as an artist uses a paintbrush on canvas producing new works that are more of a painterly look, showcasing the colour & light of the Tasmanian landscape and seascape.

Living Relics
I truly enjoy spending time with these Endangered native trees, the King Billy Pines, which have witnessed millennia of changing weather. These changes have beautifully shaped their forms into what we see today.

I watched a David Attenbourgh Doco on Tasmania last night. These little devils had alot of screen time. Take Care on the roads atm as female devils are carrying joey's in their pouches. They are so sweet really! Except when you hear them scream in the middle of the night while shooting an Aurora. You would think a Psycho killer was on the loose!🤣 I love this shot I took at Devils@Cradle
Enjoy your weekend everyone 🙏📸

Ancient Pencil Pines Athrotaxis cupressoides
Some alpine plateau communities in the Central Highlands are believed to be up to 1,600 years old, or even older, with origins tracing back to the last Ice Age.
Pencil pines naturally reproduce using suckers, sending up new shoots from their extensive, shallow lateral root systems. This mechanism allows large stands of the trees in the wild to form as genetically identical clones.

One of my favourite Cider Gums, beautifully sculpted over time and shaped by the wild weather, stands alone in the Highlands of Tasmania. Murray Watt our Environmental minister has put these endangered natives under more pressure of extinction with the approval of a 45 Turbine Windfarm in the heart of Tasmania, directly impacting these trees. It only benefits a Korean Multi National Company and turns Tasmania into a battery for the Mainland. Local community has pushed hard for six years to stop it. Government greed over conservation of our endangered species. Madness!
