Monday morning is a beautiful time to pause and ask...

What do I need to focus on this week?

Shuffle your Sunlit Memories Oracle Cards and draw one card as your guiding message for the week.

You could place it somewhere visible as a gentle reminder, or draw three cards for what to release, where to focus and what to welcome.

If you don't have this gorgeous deck of cards I am sure you have a deck of some kind use that to start the week of right.

My Sunlit Memories Oracle Card Deck was created using my sunrise, sunset and silhouette photography, each card offers a quiet moment of colour, reflection and connection with nature. They can help calm a busy mind, inspire a new perspective and bring a little of nature’s healing into your day.

The Sunlit Memories Oracle Deck is available now...

How often do you move through the day without really noticing what is around you?

Pause for a moment...

look closely... listen... breathe deeply and notice what you can feel.

Then turn that awareness inward.

Has your breathing slowed?

Do your shoulders feel softer?

Does your mind feel a little quieter?

Nature’s healing often begins with something as simple as stopping long enough to notice.

Do you agree that nature is healing? Tell me about it in the comments

To all the brave and amazing Fathers out there Happy Father's Day.

The most amazing Father of them all is my Dad ... Robert.

It is hard to put into words how I feel about my Dad .... but I will try ...

Since my Mothers diagnosis of Alzheimers my Dad has had to become a parent again to my mother and what he didn't get to do when I was young he is getting to do now.

It has been a terrible time losing mum slowly to this horrible disease but there has been some upsides ... like long conversations with my Dad which were usually my Mums domain and Dad would just smile or roll his eyes in the background.

I am thankful that my Dad brought me up well and now that I am having to become head of the family to navigate this time I do it with grace and love and awe of this special amazing man.

Happy Father's day Dad.

Give your father a special extra hug today and take time to enjoy them time is fleeting use it wisely.

Just breathe ...

Sometimes two little words are exactly the reminder we need.

After a wonderful few days in Perth, I came home knowing there was work waiting for me and plenty I wanted to catch up on. It would have been easy to feel overwhelmed by it all ... so this morning I put on my “Just Breathe” T-shirt, picked up my camera and headed outside for my usual sunrise walk.

Standing beneath that beautiful sky, breathing in the fresh farm air and watching a new day begin reminded me that I don’t have to do everything at once. I only need to pause, breathe and take the next small step.

The rain arrived and brought my photo session to an early end, but I returned home feeling calmer, energised and ready to create.

If you need your own gentle reminder to slow down, the “Just Breathe” T-shirt is available through my shop.

And if you would like to step away from the noise for a while, join me for a Healing Photo Walk in the Aussie Bush ... two peaceful hours of mindful photography, slow noticing and reconnecting with nature here at Rainbow Farm.

Message me for the T-shirt link or to find out more about the walks.

Photograph Something You Normally Walk Past

This is pure mindful noticing...

Go outside and choose somewhere familiar ...

your garden, street, local park, beach or bush.

Walk slowly…. Take notice…

Instead of searching for something spectacular, photograph something you’ve probably passed dozens of times without really seeing.

It might be bark on a tree ... a w**d ... shadows on the ground ... a feather ... a tiny flower ... moss ... a curled leaf.

Before taking the photograph…

spend 30 seconds simply looking at it.

Notice its colour… shape… texture and light.

See it from different angles and heights…

Then take your photograph then take another.

Beauty often appears when we stop looking for something extraordinary.

It’s World Photography Day ...

it got me thinking how much photography has become part of my life.

I don’t think photography alone made me the photographer I am today.

Rainbow Farm did.

Living surrounded by bushland, paddocks, wildlife, birds, changing seasons and enormous skies has taught me to notice.

To notice the first light appearing at sunrise.

The tiny fungi emerging after rain.

A bird landing on a branch.

Kangaroos quietly moving through the paddocks.

Clouds changing above me.

Wildflowers appearing where yesterday there seemed to be nothing.

Photography gave me a reason to stop and look ... and nature gave me something worth noticing.

Over the years I’ve realised that picking up my camera isn’t simply about creating photographs.

It’s a mindfulness practice.

When I’m looking through the lens, I’m here…

I’m noticing…

I’m connected to the moment in front of me…

And perhaps that’s one of photography’s greatest gifts ...

it teaches us to see the beauty that was already there.

This World Photography Day, I hope you’ll pick up your camera or phone, step outside and notice something beautiful.

You don’t need to be a photographer.

You just need to look.

A little weekend mindfulness photography exercise for you...

Look up… Photograph the Sky and Clouds.

On a sunny day .... take a moment to really notice just how BLUE the sky is.
Not just “blue”... but the depth of the colour ...
the way it changes as you look towards the horizon ...
and how those soft white clouds drift through it ... constantly changing shape.

You don’t need to go anywhere special.
You don’t need a fancy camera.
Just step outside with your phone or camera and spend a few minutes looking up.

Watch the clouds move.
Notice the light.
Feel the sun on your skin.
Take a few slow breaths and allow yourself to simply be there.

Mindful photography isn’t always about finding the perfect photograph.
Sometimes it’s about using photography as a reason to
stop... notice... breathe... and reconnect with the natural world around us.

And there’s something wonderfully calming about watching clouds slowly make their way across a brilliant blue sky.

Your weekend exercise:
Look up and photograph the sky and clouds. Try a wide view, zoom in on an interesting cloud, include the sun peeking through, or even take a little video and watch how much the clouds move.

And now that Instagram lets us share photos in the comments... add your favourite sky or cloud photo from your mindful moment below. I’d love to see what the sky looks like where you are.

Bringing the healing power of nature into your world... one mindful moment at a time.
