Hi everyone,
We’re excited to introduce something new for our Brisbane Through the Lens community – our Special Monthly Photography Challenge!
Each month from July through December, we’ll have a different photography theme to inspire you to get out with your camera, try new techniques, and see the world from a different perspective.
Whether you’re joining our meetups or shooting on your own, everyone is encouraged to take part. There are no prizes—just an opportunity to challenge yourself, share your creativity, and connect with fellow photographers.
📅 Monthly Themes
📸 July – Leading Lines
Use natural or architectural lines to draw the viewer’s eye through your image.
💧 August – Reflections
Capture reflections in water, glass, mirrors, or any unexpected surface.
🌆 September – Blue Hour
Photograph the beautiful light before sunrise or after sunset.
🏃 October – Motion
Freeze the action or embrace movement with creative motion blur.
⚫ November – Monochrome
Create compelling black and white images that focus on light, texture, and contrast.
🪟 December – Hidden Brisbane
Show us a side of Brisbane that most people don’t see—hidden laneways, local gems, unique perspectives, or secret locations.

Tag us on Instagram using .the.lens or share your images in our Facebook group Brisbane Through The Lens. We’ll be featuring and resharing some of our favourite images on our social media stories and posts throughout the month.
There are no strict rules—just have fun, be creative, and enjoy the process. Every photographer sees the world differently, and we can’t wait to see your unique perspective.
