Sitting pretty in sunshine yellow 💛

The sitter stage has to be one of my absolute favourites to photograph — those gorgeous gummy smiles, delicious baby rolls and so much personality starting to shine through.

It’s such a fleeting little window between newborn and toddler, and this beautiful girl made the most adorable little model. 💛

If your baby is sitting independently but not quite on the move yet, it’s the perfect time to capture this stage.

And that’s a wrap! 🤍

I’ve just finished my very last baby session before I take some time away from the studio for surgery and recovery — and what a way to finish, with not one but TWO gorgeous little babies! 👶👶

It feels very strange knowing I won’t have a steady stream of beautiful babies coming through my doors for a while. I’m definitely going to miss all those cuddles!

I’m not quite sure exactly when I’ll be ready to return, but I’m hoping to gradually ease back into sessions later in the year. I’ve opened a waitlist for families who’d like first access to appointments when I’m ready to start photographing again. If you’d like to join, please email me at [email protected] and I’ll be in touch when I begin opening up sessions.

I’ve also photographed some absolutely gorgeous little people lately that I haven’t had a chance to share yet, so I’ll be scheduling plenty of those sessions while I’m away to keep the baby love going on my Insta. 🤍

And while I have you — I’m going to have quite a bit of enforced downtime! If you have a series you’ve loved and think I should add to my recovery watchlist, please leave it in the comments. I have a feeling I might be going a little stir crazy! 😂

Those tiny lashes, soft little cheeks, sleepy expressions and the way newborns still curl so perfectly into themselves — this stage is so fleeting.

Newborn sessions don’t need to be complicated to be beautiful. Sometimes the simplest images are the ones families treasure most, because they capture exactly how little their baby was in those first few weeks.

A little note before I sign off — August will be my last month of sessions before I take some time off for surgery and recovery. I only have a couple of spots left, so if you’ve been meaning to book a newborn, baby or maternity session before my break, now is the time to get in touch.

My Friday newborn safety reminder.

Babies are not dolls. They’re not props. They’re tiny, fragile people who need to be handled with patience, care and respect.

Newborn photography should always be gentle, supported and baby-led. Some poses you see online are only safe when they are done as composites, with hands supporting baby at all times and edited out afterwards.

No photo is ever worth risking a baby’s safety.

When choosing a newborn photographer, please ask how they keep babies safe during posing, whether they use composite editing for supported poses, and whether they follow baby’s cues throughout the session.

Your baby’s comfort and safety should always come first 🤍

One year olds are wonderfully unpredictable… and honestly, that’s what makes these sessions so special 🤍

No pressure to sit still. No expectations to “perform”. Just splashing, giggling, exploring and capturing your little one exactly as they are in this season of life 🫧

This sweet boy absolutely loved his bubble bath session and I’m pretty sure he would have stayed in there all day if we let him 😅

These busy little toddler stages pass so quickly — I love being able to preserve them for families forever.

A little reminder this Mother’s Day 🤍

You don’t need to have it all together to be a good mum.

The love, the comfort, the safety, the tiny everyday moments… that’s what your children will remember.

Today can feel beautiful, complicated, joyful or deeply painful all at once.

Thinking of the mums doing their best, the mums longing for babies, the exhausted mums, and those missing their own mums today 🤍

You are more loved than you know.

Life update — and a bit of a forced slow down 😅

I’ll be having surgery in early September to repair a large diastasis recti (muscle separation) and an umbilical hernia (thanks kids 🙃), so I’ll be taking time off to recover.

That means no bookings for September and October.

I’ll miss my baby squeezes for those couple of months but I’ll be focusing on recovering quickly and getting back to the studio ASAP (hopefully feeling much more like myself!) 🤍

I’m still open as usual between now and then, so if you’ve been thinking about booking, now is the perfect time 🤍

And if you’ve had this surgery before… I’d love any tips or advice — the nerves are definitely real 😅
