🇺🇸 BLACK HAWK — MISSION READY 🇺🇸

There’s always something special about seeing a UH-60 Black Hawk in action — but this particular demonstration at Oshkosh had a personal connection that made it even more memorable for me. 🚁

Captured during the Friday afternoon airshow at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2026, this UH-60 from the 1st Battalion, 147th Aviation Regiment of the Wisconsin National Guard was positioning to conduct winching operations as part of an impressive capability demonstration.

Against that incredible wall of smoke, with the cabin open and crew preparing for the operation, it was a great opportunity to see the precision, coordination and teamwork involved in Army aviation up close.

But what made this display particularly special for me was hearing a very familiar voice over the PA.

Narrating the demonstration was my good friend of more than 20 years, Chief Warrant Officer 3 Matthew Hipp.

Aviation has given me some pretty remarkable friendships over the years, and there was something genuinely cool about standing on the Oshkosh flightline with a camera in my hands, photographing the Black Hawk demonstration while an old mate was behind the microphone explaining the capability to thousands of people watching along the crowd line.

Twenty-plus years of friendship, one Black Hawk, and the world’s greatest aviation gathering bringing our paths together once again. 🇺🇸🤝🇦🇺

Those are the Oshkosh moments that mean a little more than simply getting the shot.

🇺🇸 52 YEARS OF THE VIPER 🇺🇸

Some aircraft simply demand your attention — and when Major Taylor “FEMA” Hiester puts the F-16 Viper through its paces, looking away really isn’t an option. 🔥

Captured during the Friday afternoon airshow at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2026, FEMA demonstrates exactly why the F-16 has remained one of the world’s most iconic fighters for more than half a century — with an incredible display of precision, power and outright performance in front of a very impressed Oshkosh crowd.

And this particular Viper carries its heritage proudly.

Painted in 2024 to commemorate 50 years since the first flight of the YF-16 prototype, the jet wears the unmistakable red, white and blue scheme inspired by the original YF-16 during its 1974 flight-test program.

It’s a brilliant tribute to where the Viper story began — brought to life 50 years later by one amazing pilot!

But there’s another side to FEMA that you don’t necessarily see from the crowd line.

Behind the helmet is someone who is every bit as impressive as the aviator — genuine, humble, approachable and incredibly generous with his time. A true people person who has a remarkable ability to make aviation fans feel like part of the experience rather than simply spectators.

I feel incredibly fortunate — and genuinely honoured — to have struck up a great friendship with him along the way.

2026 marks the final year of FEMA’s tenure with the USAF F-16 Viper Demonstration Team, bringing to a close three years of displays that have showcased not only the extraordinary capabilities of the Viper, but the skill, professionalism and personality of the man flying it.

For everyone fortunate enough to have watched FEMA send the Viper around an airshow sky over these past three years, those displays won’t soon be forgotten.

And for me, this photograph captures a little bit more than just another pass at Oshkosh.

An incredible aircraft. An exceptional aviator. And, most importantly, a genuinely great man. 🇺🇸🤝🇦🇺

Now THAT’S how you arrive at Oshkosh. 🔥✈️

NASA Administrator Jared “Rook” Isaacman making an entrance at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2026 in his unmistakable MiG-29UB Fulcrum.

Astronaut. Entrepreneur. Fighter-jet pilot. NASA Administrator.

And when your ride to the world’s greatest aviation celebration is a twin-engine MiG-29 wearing one of the wildest camouflage schemes on the field… subtlety clearly wasn’t on the flight plan. 😎

One of those Oshkosh moments where you hear it coming, find it through the viewfinder and just know you’re about to capture something special.

Rook. Fulcrum. Oshkosh. 🤘

Low, fast and aggressive — with Jeff putting the Extra through its paces, that incredible red, white and blue scheme absolutely comes alive against the Wisconsin sky.

Into the fire. 🔥✈️

It’s the second appearance this week for Kyle Fowler and GO EZ Aerobatics on my feed — and when the night show produces moments like this, it’s pretty easy to see why!

Kyle lighting up the night at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2026 — one incredible moment with aircraft, aerobatics and pyrotechnics all coming together in a single frame.

There’s something about Oshkosh after dark… the sky becomes the stage, and Kyle certainly knows how to put on a show.

An absolutely spectacular performance against the Wisconsin night sky.

✨ PAINTING THE OSHKOSH SKY WITH LIGHT… ✈️🔥

Against a completely black Wisconsin sky, Kyle Fowler and GO EZ Aerobatics created one of those scenes that almost looks unreal through the viewfinder.

Captured during the Wednesday Night Airshow at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2026, Kyle sweeps through the darkness with brilliant pyrotechnics streaming from the aircraft — transforming an aerobatic display into an incredible combination of flight, light, precision and motion.

The night airshows at Oshkosh offer photographers moments unlike anything else in aviation, and when the aircraft, pyro and timing all come together like this… this is the result.

A split second of controlled chaos, frozen in time. 📸🔥

Some aircraft become legends. Others continue writing history.

For his second appearance at the world’s greatest aviation celebration, EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2026, Paul Bennet took to the skies in an aircraft that needs little introduction—the iconic Oracle Challenger II.

Previously flown for many years by legendary American airshow pilot Sean D. Tucker, this remarkable machine inspired countless pilots and airshow fans across the globe. Today, that legacy continues in the hands of Paul, who has proudly become its new custodian.

Watching this famous aircraft carving through the Wisconsin sky once again was something special. While the pilot may have changed, the mission remains exactly the same—to inspire current and future generations of aviators while delivering a world-class display that leaves crowds in awe.

Together with commentator Rusty Bell, the pair delivered a performance that perfectly blended precision, energy and entertainment. From the first manoeuvre to the final pass, it was a masterclass in aerobatic flying and showmanship.

Here’s to the next chapter of an aviation icon—and to many more years of thrilling airshow fans across the United States.

When the sun goes down, Oshkosh comes alive. 🔥✈️

Nathan K. Hammond and the GhostWriter Airshows Super Chipmunk lit up the Wisconsin sky with another breathtaking pyrotechnics display during the Saturday night airshow at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2026. The combination of precision aerobatics, fire, colour and sheer energy is unlike anything else in aviation.

A huge congratulations to EAA for continuing to raise the bar every single year. AirVenture somehow manages to become bigger, better and more spectacular with each passing year, and the night airshows are now truly among the greatest aviation spectacles anywhere in the world.

Already counting down to next year.

Eyes on the mission.

One of the Royal Australian Navy’s most capable assets, the MH-60R Seahawk ‘Romeo’, powers through its flight demonstration at the 2025 Australian International Airshow in Avalon, Victoria.

Designed for anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, surveillance and search and rescue, the Seahawk is a true multi-role workhorse. Watching it thrown around the display box with such precision is a reminder that behind every impressive manoeuvre is an incredibly capable aircraft and an exceptionally skilled crew.

Avalon always delivers world-class flying displays, and the Seahawk’s demonstration was no exception.

A Giant Takes Flight.

One of the highlights of the Sydsquad Plane Spotters Open Day, held on 30 May 2026, was witnessing Qantas Airbus A380-842 VH-OQL “Phyllis Arnott” power into the afternoon sky as QF1, commencing its iconic journey from Sydney to London Heathrow via Singapore.

Operating from Sydney’s less frequently used Runway 07, the departure made for an unforgettable sight from the Cloud 9 Rooftop Function Room at Rydges Sydney Airport, where aviation enthusiasts enjoyed a front-row seat to one of the world’s most recognisable aircraft beginning one of aviation’s most celebrated long-haul routes.

The aircraft proudly carries the name “Phyllis Arnott”, honouring an Australian aviation pioneer who became the first woman to earn a commercial pilot’s licence in Australia—a fitting tribute aboard the flagship of the Qantas fleet.

In the foreground sits Sydney Airport’s Airside Operations Control Centre, quietly coordinating airside operations as the A380 climbs away over Botany Bay, bound for Singapore before continuing on to London Heathrow.

Captured with my Canon EOS R5 and RF 100–500mm, this image is a reminder that great aviation photography is often about being in the right place at the right time. Beautiful afternoon light, an uncommon runway configuration and the graceful departure of the world’s largest passenger airliner combined to create a moment that was well worth the wait.
