I don’t make every photo black and white… and here’s the reasons why.

I don’t think every photo should be black and white. Every image has its own story to tell.. and colour is just as much a part of that story as the emotion is.

When I’m deciding which photos become black and white the first thing I’m looking at is the emotion. Stripping away the colour lets you focus on what really matters… how that moment felt right in that moment.

The second thing I look at is the light. Beautiful light gives black and white images so much depth and helps create something timeless.

I also use black and white to help tell your story. A gallery should have rhythm. It should make you slow down, feel something and relive the moments… not just quickly scroll through them.

And sometimes… a photo simply looks better in black and white. There’s no rule... some images just have a feeling that colour can’t quite capture.

So when you’re looking through your gallery, I hope your black and white photos make you pause for just a little longer. I hope they make you feel something… because those are often the moments we always want to remember.

Where do I even start?

This session was so, so special. Not because of the unique location, but because mum to be Kelly had a vision and together we put so much work into bringing it to life.

Kelly and Andrew’s maternity session had a little bit of everything weather wise… freezing cold weather, strong winds, a little rain, a rainbow and finally beautiful golden sun. It was the perfect reminder that you don’t need to be nervous about cloudy skies or a little rain at your session because sometimes that’s when the magic happens!

I absolutely loved getting creative and creating something a little different for them. But more than anything, I loved knowing they’ll look back on these photos of such a special time in their lives and love them just as much years from now.

After opening her gallery, Kelly sent me a message that said, “Thank you so much. Everything is so perfect. I don’t think I will ever have words to thank you enough for what you have given us.”

Those words honestly meant the world to me.

I pour my whole heart into every session. I feel all the love, the excitement and the emotion alongside you and my biggest hope is that every image reflects exactly how this journey felt for you 🥰

Winter honestly have the most beautiful sunsets 😍

This gorgeous family session at Tennyson Beach is proof that you don’t have to wait for summer to create beautiful family photos. Winter brings the softest light, the dreamiest sunsets and the most special moments together.

This was my fourth session with this little family and it is so special watching Rhodes grow right from when he was in his mum, Dani’s, belly. It means so much to be trusted to capture these memories year and I already can’t wait for the next one. 😍

Finally getting around to sharing some of the beautiful photos of baby Cleo and Mum Dani that I took back in June at Auckland Family Photographer & Educator ~ Megan newborn mentorship.

It was so great to see how Megan worked in person. The photos were taken in an amazing air BnB in Torquay and had the most beautiful light to work with and although I don’t normally have this kind of space to work with in your homes it was so great to gain lots of insight how I can make my in home newborn sessions better for my beautiful clients!

Gosh I love learning and will forever be learning new things in this businessto grow bigger and better so I can give you not only amazing photos but an amazing experience!

There are dishes in the sink, a pile of washing you’ve been meaning to get to, you haven’t slept for more than two hours at a time.. and life just feels a little messy.

And that’s NORMAL.

Those first few weeks aren’t about having it all together. They’re about soaking in the tiny details before they change.

Because these photos aren’t just of your newborn. They’re of you, too. Holding them, loving them, comforting them in the middle of the chaos.

One day, these will be the photos you both look back on. The ones that remind you just how small they were, and just how deeply they were loved.
