💫 BOOK OF THE DAY 💫

FIRELIGHT by Amy Friend

https://anzenbergergallery-bookshop.com/book/6009/firelight-amy_friend

In Firelight, Amy Friend breathes new life into photographs from the 1920s to 1940s. She transforms found family images and forgotten moments into dreamlike and otherworldly scenes. Using delicate perforations and luminous backlighting, Friend establishes an intimate dialogue between light and shadow, past and present, memory and time.

This beautifully crafted photobook transforms old photographs into new, magical worlds and celebrates bringing the past back into the light.

TO BE by Lois Conner

https://anzenbergergallery-bookshop.com/book/6006/to_be-lois_conner

This is a powerful meditation on pregnancy, transformation and the passage of time. Drawing inspiration from Renaissance altar paintings and the enduring image of the Venus of Willendorf, these intimate panoramic portraits explore the pregnant body as a space of fertility, vulnerability, hope and transformation.

Created slowly and collaboratively, the photographs celebrate the women behind these transformations and the fleeting nature of life itself. This is a deeply moving body of work about what is seen and unseen, and the extraordinary moment before birth.

Israel Ariño’s Le nom qui efface la couleur is a poetic exploration of absence, transformation, and the fragile boundaries between appearance and disappearance. Created in the French landscape of Le Blanc, the photographs in this series move between reality and abstraction. They invite us to reflect on freedom, memory, and the many possibilities contained within a place. This quiet, contemplative photobook transforms photography into a space for imagination and wonder.

By photographing locations from the Dutch television series A’dam – E.V.A., Lixenberg transforms familiar urban spaces into quiet observations of atmosphere, identity, and everyday life. It is a thoughtful photobook that explores Amsterdam as both a real landscape and a personal archive.
